Based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index, there is a 3.2 percent Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for most retired pay and Survivor Benefit Plan annuities, effective December 1, 2023. Retirees will see the change in their December 29, 2023 payment and annuitants in their January 2, 2024 payment.

The effective date of Phase Two was January 1, 2022. January 2022 benefits were paid on February 1, 2022. The last payment of Phase Two is for December of 2022, which will be paid on January 3, 2023. In the third and final phase that begins January 1, 2023, the SBP-DIC offset will be fully eliminated.

Retired pay is paid monthly, on the first day of the month, unless that day is a weekend or holiday. In that case, it is paid on the last business day of the prior month. For example, if May 1 is a Sunday, payday will be Friday, April. 29. Our goal is to pay your first retired pay on the first business day of month following your retirement date.
