Guaranteed rate for 48 hours is a scam. My bank confirmed $$ was received by Transferwise within 24hours. Instead of sending the $$ onward immediately to recipient at the guaranteed rate, Wise waited a full 24+ hours until the 48hr window expired and sent onward at a worse rate that I had never agreed to.

All got stopped and demand or re-verification from Wise. In the end, what good is a service if you cannot be sure it is going to work. For small transfers and visa use it is OK (credit card did NOT work for airline ticket, so again, not fully reliable). Date of experience: June 19, 2024. Useful.

The whole process is very simple to use and the exchange rate is far superior to what's on offer if I used a bank to bank transfer. Another big plus is the speed of the transfer, if I make a transaction around 10am the funds are in my UK account by 3:30pm. Thoroughly recommend Wise. Date of experience: 03 July 2024.

Both times, over a 4 day period, the credit card approach failed. Compounding this, the Wise help function was not available (both times) with the message stating that help was not available because the Wise help was too busy. TransferWise ended all of that (accepting bank recognizes it as a domestic money transfer), and I haven't been happier. I think TransferWise is the best way to transfer money from Japan, with the second best probably using Rakuten Bank remittance service (remittance fees are low).

Transferwise clear as water no hidden sh****t, I wanted to transfer money abroad, 4 years ago if I can remember, looked everywhere till I found good reviews on Transferwise, I used it, they do not make a margin from exchange rate, they use google rate, and charge a fee, it depends how you pay, if you use your account Direct debit, it is cheaper.
