About the Role

The Specialist Application role will manage the application portfolio for the Legacy Asset business within BHP. The Legacy Assets business purpose is to manage closed mine sites and ensure responsible closure outcomes. Their applications include a wide variety of capabilities and platforms, including data management, industrial control systems, physical access, PowerPlatforms, and several others. This role will also participate in projects relating to application introduction or product improvements. You will manage the lifecycle of the Legacy Asset applications, and also act as an initial touchpoint and liaison for enterprise-owned applications within BHP.

This position can be from Tucson USA or Saskatoon Canada.

In this role you will

Operational / Day-to-day:

• Monitor and optimize the performance of software across the lifecycle, including the potential retirement/decommissioning of software.

• Assists with the implementation of remedies and preventative actions to resolve software performance issues.

• Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.

• Adjusts effort and individual work activities in response to changing team priorities.

• Identifies and develops plans to overcome barriers to the completion of work or delivery of team objectives.

• Documents design decisions using clear technical language and in alignment with standards and security requirements.

Projects:

• Negotiates user, functional, non-functional and business priority requirements for software solutions with relevant stakeholders.

About the Role

About the Role - Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Enterprise and Global Technology, this senior leadership role leads a globally dispersed team, and holds end-to-end accountability for the delivery and operation of technology services for BHP’s Global Functions. Your key customers include Finance, External Affairs, Human Resources and Commercial (Inbound Supply and Marketing & Maritime) and you will operate under a DevOps model which has recently been implemented to bring people, process, and technology together to drive continuous value.

Key to your success will be the ability to collaborate and build and maintain relationships with key Functional and Technology stakeholders and draw upon the technical expertise within each domain. While some of the key products within your remit include Success Factors, Microsoft Dynamics and PowerApps, there is no expectation you will be a computer scientist. What will set you apart is your ability to negotiate and influence, while managing capacity and demand, and your ability to work with key stakeholders to build strategic technology roadmaps that align the Functional strategy with Technology’s priorities of Cloud & Data. You will foster a high-performing team culture, with a strong focus on operational excellence, continuous improvement and operating hygiene.

About the Role

Main Functions:
• develops, implements and improves various aspects of the risk management framework

About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Reporting, Analytics and Systems, you will be responsible for global analysis and analytics related to the HSSE function including extracting, processing, modelling, analyzing and presenting HSSE data to connect people and data today, to build a better tomorrow.

Domestic relocation and visa support are not provided for this, at the moment. This role can be based in any of our BHP offices based in Australia (Perth/Brisbane), Canada, Chile, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore or USA (Tucson).

Key Responsibilities:

Project delivery, and future business application ownership of Global Modelo Proactivo, supported by Technology delivery, including but not limited to involvement in deployment plans, communication campaigns, data integration support, and adherence to data quality/ privacy requirements, as well as documentation and delivery of procedures and training.
• Champions the working group/s for sustainability of owned products
• Collects, processes and performs data analyses and statistical analyses of data using applicable methodologies including but not limited to mathematical / statistical tools and techniques.
• Identifies patterns, trends and correlations in complex data whilst overlaying business context and limiting bias.
• Partners with HSE Regional/ Asset/ Operational/ Project teams and line leaders to provide analytics leadership, coaching and project management to address challenges; builds organizational capability to continually create value and ensure quality data.
• Supports the Power BI refactoring of interactive and automated reports/ dashboards with insightful visualizations to enable the business to make better decisions based on operational data/ statistical analysis.
• Researches and develops statistical learning models, for data analysis whilst keeping up to date with latest technology applications and trends.
• Actively seeks to create value through identifying improvements to simplify activities, remove duplication and minimize hand-offs to enhance standardization and efficiency of reporting and analytics activities.

About You
• A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant data science related field
• Extensive knowledge of Regional and/ or Enterprise-wide HSSE data and associated systems
• Extensive experience in the development of data analytical solutions, including programming languages such as R, Python, SQL
• Strong track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting data from large databases.
• Experience applying data science methods and techniques to draw insights from large data sets.
• Experience with advanced statistical techniques and concepts
• Experience in visualization and presentation of data analysis
• Ability to communicate complex problems, models and analysis in a simple, articulate manner.
• Experience producing quantitative and qualitative insights.
• Experience working with a variety of stakeholders and people with different areas of expertise in an agile environment.
• Ability to influence and engage with colleagues and experience working collaboratively through different teams in different locations to achieve results.
• Experience using Power BI for reports and dashboards is preferred.
• Spanish language skills is desirable.

About the Role

Provides US Tax expertise in the management of international, corporate and regional tax matters, and attendance to BHPs tax obligations and external reporting requirements.

Core Accountabilities:
• Assist in preparation and review US Federal and State tax returns
• Conduct tax research and analysis; assist with implementation of tax advice
• Be accountable for the accuracy and completeness of tax data and/or analysis provided to tax management or other internal/external stakeholders, ensuring that tax risks and opportunities are identified, quantified and incorporated in advice.
• Ensure that tax accounting, forecasting, and reporting activities are performed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner and assist with planning for such activities
• Develop relationships with key stakeholders within the businesses and functions
• Identify process improvements and assist with implementation
• Prepare and where necessary, review, complex tax calculations, perform modelling, and analytics for tax compliance, reporting, and planning projects.
• Coordinate tax compliance and reporting processes to ensure timely submission of tax returns, tax payments, and financial statements.
• Work closely with Manager Tax US to provide day to day support on tax matters related to US.
• Proactively identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives within work area.
• Analyse new tax legislation and other tax developments/announcements as they impact BHP investments in the region and globally, participating in cross-functional working groups to provide conclusions and recommendations to management.
• Work with Manager Tax US to provide guidance on proposed purchase/sale/exchange or other restructuring transactions as required.
• Review and analyse fiscal terms, contracts and commercial proposals for recommended tax language and structuring for optimal outcomes.
• Aid in the efficient and effective use of 1SAP, OneSource Tax Provision Software, and other local software, if applicable.

About You

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional qualification (CPA/ICAA, Bar member) or similar tax qualifications, either completion or currently pursuing will be added advantage.

Experience & Technical Competencies:
• Experience working with a large corporate or professional environment preferred.
• Proficient in tax research and analysis.
• Experience in Federal and State tax compliance, including international tax planning.
• Experience in tax accounting under IFRS or US GAAP.
• Working knowledge of SAP, OneSource Income Tax, or OneSource Tax Provision software will be a plus.
• Mining industry experience will be a plus.

• Fluent English
