About the team and position

As a Technician II, Post Production you will have the opportunity to work at one of our Inspection Centers that help recondition the vehicles we sell to our customers. You will be responsible for ensuring our vehicles have been properly reconditioned and meet Carvana vehicle quality standards. As a Technician II, you will be asked to leverage your expertise to perform general automotive repairs and run diagnostics on our vehicles.

What you’ll be doing

The qualifying candidate must love helping people and possess the drive to achieve superior customer satisfaction. They must be goal-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Perform general automotive repairs such as radiators, timing belts, and transmissions
• Complete lube, oil, filter, and fluid flushes/exchanges
• Perform extensive brake and tire repair
• Complete drivability repair for wheel bearings, alignment issues, and axles
• Carry out vehicle climate control repair and replacement for ACs and heater cores
• Diagnose and troubleshoot to identify vehicle mechanical issues and complete preventative maintenance
• Complete drive-cycles for vehicle emissions testing
• Maintains and coordinates the completion of ancillary goods or services for vehicles as needed
• Input vehicle data into computer systems and Carvana technology applications to ensure vehicle information is up to date
• Follow Post Production standardized work initiatives as assigned
• Work on a variety of vehicle tasks for an extended period of time
• Inspect customer returns to guarantee customer satisfaction
• Concisely and collaboratively communicate with the Post Production team if additional work on a vehicle is needed
• Maintain a clean and productive work environment by keeping tools and supplies organized throughout the Post Production department
• Report any safety issues immediately to management

What you should have

This position is an all-inclusive Automotive Technician role and requires at least 3+ years of Automotive Technician experience with a desire to continue a career as a Technician in the automotive industry.

Requirements include:
• Minimum 3+ years of Automotive Technician experience performing general and basic automotive repairs including but not limited to extensive brake repair, fluid flushes, extensive tire repair, radiators, timing belts, transmissions, wheel bearings, axles, alignment issues, and vehicle climate control repair
• Experience using vehicle diagnosis equipment for mechanical issues
• A positive, can-do attitude with a desire to work in a team setting
• Ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools
• A quality first mentality that takes pride in upholding Carvana’s vehicle quality standards
• Strong, consistent attention to detail
• Advanced level understanding of vehicle mechanical repair
• Proficient computer skills with data entry and navigating computer applications

• Verifies as soon as practicable that parts ordered for the vehicle assigned to them are correct.
• Performs digital inspection and documents to their full potential. Notates all pertinent information into the shop inspection or management system, attaches all photos or videos to illustrate repairs or needs to the inspection.
• Assures all comeback related repairs are prioritized as directed by manager or lead.
• Communicates effectively as necessary with manager, service advisors and other technicians to contribute to the overall performance of the location
• Responsible for the safety and accuracy of all repairs made and or systems inspected to assure vehicle is as safe or more safe condition as was prior to work commencing
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Note: May require travel to different locations on an as needed basis

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in the language(s) required for the role, as justified for business necessity
• Effective organization, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Ability to work scheduled hours as necessitated by business need
• Math and computer skills with experience using software applications including word processing, browsers, and email
• Member service focus
• Ability to drive vehicles equipped with manual transmission
• Knowledge of equipment/tool operation and diagnostic/repair procedures
• Maintains 100% productivity as measured by dividing hours worked by labor hours flagged

Education, Experience / Licenses & Certifications
• Valid driver license and acceptable driving record
• Four years experience as an automotive repair technician (preferred)
• Smog Repair and Testing Certification preferred (CA only)

Work Environment/Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and or carry up to 50lbs
• Standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, reaching, lifting, climbing ladders
• Exposure to loud noises
