Description: The Client Advocate Intern (?Intern?) is on the front lines of the Care Net ministry and is a peer counselor to women facing pregnancy. It?s a challenging, rewarding, and incredibly important role. Client Advocates Interns are compassionate, great listeners, wise, and need to be comfortable with extremely difficult conversations. More than anything, the Intern must radiate the abundant love of Jesus Christ to every woman counseled.

Qualifications/Background:
• Be aligned with the vision and mission of Care Net Pregnancy Center and be in full agreement with Care Net?s Principles, Purpose, and Faith Statement and the Mission and Values Statement
• Must be pursuing a degree in a related field and willing to commit to a full semester
• Approved DPS; Criminal and CPS Background checks; Clean Driving Record
• Willingness to complete First Aid, CPR and Child Abuse Training, and other training as required
• Basic computer and database management skills
• Highly organized, self-motivated, dependable, responsible, and able to work independently and calmly in an often highly emotional environment
• Confident communicator and problem solver

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift and carry 40+ pounds up to waist high level
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, reach, climb on a step stool or ladder, and be sedentary or stand 50% of the time

Duties:
• Provide support for each client in an atmosphere of warmth and compassion through listening and other helping skills
• Meet one on one with clients to provide information on pregnancy options of parenting, adoption, and abortion, as well as counseling clients with accurate information about the effects of abortion and Post Abortion Syndrome (PAS)
• Offer support, material needs, and referrals that are appropriate for the client?s situation
• Gain experience in performing pregnancy tests and delivering test results to clients
• Learn Industry Standards for collection of data and HIPAA rules for ensuring proper notes are kept daily, following established documentation protocol
• Follow-up with clients for appointment reminders and to inquire about updates to pregnancy decision (for abortion minded clients)
• Maintain all client records as outlined in center policies and guidelines
• Gain experience in Front Desk management by support client intake by helping set appointments when clients call in and take initiative with in-office duties when staff and/or scheduled volunteers are unavailable
• Assist with keeping client service areas are clean, neat, organized, and fully stocked
• Build and nurture pleasant relationships with all staff and volunteers
• Exhibit a teachable spirit and humility
• Attend at least 2 of our monthly staff meeting at Support Site (Fridays 3-5pm)

• Perform and maintain labeling for classroom and center
• Gain classroom teaching experience by assisting and teaching educational classes
• Submit timely invoices for classes
• At all times, be a Care Net ambassador in the community
