The Vocational English & ESL Lab Instructor will be responsible for teaching hospitality-based Vocational and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes to adult learners, utilizing a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
This role requires the ability to conduct academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student placement in courses and using this information to tailor instruction accordingly.
The instructor will also be expected to consistently develop and maintain curricula, and other proprietary course materials.
The position will work in collaboration with the curriculum team, hospitality program instructors, and other professionals across the CALV enterprise to design and deliver language instruction supporting CALV?s vocational training programs.
This position will report to the Dean of Education and Learning Support Services.
Responsibilities:
Teach 2-week Vocational English courses to current and prospective learners following a competency-based curriculum.
Oversee and manage 3-hour English lab.
Provide one-on-one, small group, large group instruction to students at different language and skill levels.
Assess student language competency, utilizing a variety of assessment tools.
Maintain and record daily attendance and progress reports.
Participate regularly in faculty/administrative meetings to improve the quality of instruction.
In consultation with the curriculum and instructional teams, design, develop and implement content material to support specific language needs of different students.
Consult with Instructors to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of training materials.
Work collaboratively with the curriculum management team, instructional faculty, and other academic stakeholders to develop supporting training materials.
Other duties, as assigned.
