General Position Summary

Position cleans and maintains Recreation Department offices, rest rooms, locker rooms, and public areas throughout the building, cleans and maintains the outside perimeter of the building.

Examples of Responsibilities
• Performs custodial work.
• Works to a schedule and completes special projects.
• Ensures facility is adequately cleaned each week to standards expected of public buildings.
• Included (but not limited to) occasional washing of windows and blinds, cleaning and sanitizing rest rooms and locker rooms, disposing of trash and recyclables, replacing light tubes/bulbs, cleaning all surfaces (furniture, fixtures, etc.), vacuuming and shampooing carpeted floors and cleaning, sweeping, mopping and waxing of floors.
• Set-up facilities for various meetings, including covering tables, moving furniture, cleaning and performing final inspection for presentation.
• Ensures rest rooms have adequate tissue, towels and soap as needed. Transports supplies and materials.
• Double-checks facilities for cleanliness and any maintenance needs.
• Maintains outside perimeter of buildings, including sweeping sidewalks, picking up debris, weed control and checking perimeter for potential drainage issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Conditions
• Must be available to work non-standard hours, nights and weekends and/or overtime, when required.
• Work schedule may be changed at any time to accommodate Recreation and/or business needs.
• Work around dirt, dust, germs, chemicals, cleaning supplies, and unsanitary conditions at times.
• Must maintain a strong driving record for city-insurance purpose and record may be periodically checked by the City.
• Job requires slip resistance/steel toe footwear to be worn during work hours.

Incumbent is distinguished as Professional Engineer by acquiring the State PE Licensure and having a minimum of four (4) years of experience in at least two (2) of the five (5) engineering areas.

Five (5) Engineering Areas: Traffic Engineering, Storm Drainage Design, Floodplain Management, MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm System) Permit Management, Site/Subdivision

Professional Engineer is responsible for professional civil engineering work in planning, design, construction, inspection and/or coordination of Public Works projects; prepares engineering plans and designs for drainage and water quality related projects; inspects construction sites; and monitors environmental compliance for the City’s water permit and landfill permit. In addition, the purpose of this positon is to support implementation of the City’s capital improvement programs (CIP), to check development plans, and subsequent construction for compliance with the City of Madison specifications and standards and sound engineering practices. The Professional Engineer reports to the City Engineer.
• Must be able to perform many of the functions in the Civil Engineer 4 job description.
• Assists in planning and coordinating the design and construction of Public Works projects, including streets, sidewalks, multi-use paths, drainage systems, bridges and recreational sites, etc.
• Assists in planning, coordinating and implementation of the City’s Capital Improvement Plans (CIP).
• Works with construction project manager and site superintendent to manage the projects under construction by the city contractors.
• Conducts on-site review of construction projects with Public Works, engineering staff and/or contractors to review progress, resolve conflicts and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Performs traffic control planning and design functions, including surveys of traffic flows and conditions, analysis of findings and preparation of plans for changes and improvements.
• Reviews development plans and checks design of infrastructure systems for compliance with standards and sound engineering practices.
• Assures design compliance and resolves design problems with developers and their consultants.
