The Unhoused Peoples Justice Project fights for the rights of Unhoused persons through impact litigation and policy advocacy, combatting the criminalization of homelessness, and ensuring that the civil rights of unhoused people are protected.

LAFLA is currently accepting applications for the position of Litigation Paralegal.

NOTE – This position will run for approximately 1 year. This Paralegal position is a part of a special program created using designated funds. There is no assurance of ongoing funding or employment beyond 1 year/beyond the assigned UPJP case.
• Assigned location is subject to change during course of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A four (4) year degree or Paralegal Certificate;

• Excellent excel skills;

• Ability to manage complex tasks;

• Experience with attorney fees motion preferred;

• Strong attention to detail; and

• Work under the direction, and as part of, a large litigation team.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assist with litigation;

• Document management for large litigation;

• Create templates and tables;

• Assist attorneys with trial preparation; and other duties as required;

• Contribute to the organization’s DEI plan and goals (via surveys, interviews, etc), supporting all DEI initiatives and helping to promote inclusion in a thoughtful way;
