What You'll Do
• Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff members of the treatment teams; supervises staff in the treatment process; and assists in training and career development activities.
• Serves as the "group leader" in guiding the group interaction process.
• Interacts critically and constructively with staff members to develop and implement successful treatment techniques.
• Assists in the oversight of an outdoor program, instructs youth in outdoor skills, and evaluates the application of such skills in scheduled activities.
• Communicates with court and community-based staff regarding each youth's progress, placement plans, and family issues; prepares reports regarding youth's progress, adjustments, and related matters.
• Keeps staff informed of significant behavioral conditions known about an individual and/or the group.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime; and the ability to respond to crises situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• One or more years of experience as a higher level Youth Services Worker (Youth Specialist II) with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency, and a valid vehicle operator’s license. OR A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work; and, One or more years of professional experience in the treatment of juveniles which involved group or individual counseling techniques; and possession of a valid vehicle operator's license. OR A Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of youth treatment experience and/or relevant certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
Special Requirement: Must possess a valid driver’s license
(24 Earned g raduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.) Provides brief counseling and support to help patients cope with the challenges in their lives such as illness, unemployment, personal relationships, parenting, substance abuse, housing, lack of finances and resources.
Acts as liaison between patient and provider to help interpret, educate and communicate recommendations to improve patient’s compliance and health outcomes.
Provides information and referrals to link patients with needed community resource
Provides options counseling and prenatal counseling.
Provides tubal counseling and consent
Provides HIV pre and post-test counseling.
Consults and collaborates with community providers, agencies and resources regarding patient needs and DPH services.
Coaches and empowers patient on how to advocate for themselves and develop strategies for getting their needs met.
Advocates for patient’s needs both internally and externally.
Perform other duties as assigned. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling and a minimum of one year of related counseling experience or any equivalent combination of experience and post graduate training. Must possess a valid driver's license. Licensure by the State of Missouri as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Professional Counselor (LPC) must be obtained prior to completion of a six month probationary period. Prefer experience working with adult and pediatric patients.
SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job-related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.
