The Opportunity
Working directly for the CEO, you’ll be central to our commercial growth within the ecosystem of “unicorn” venture-backed companies. You have experience building and managing $75m+ annual revenue run rate within the professional services industry, and have a strong network of relationships within Venture Capital and Startups. As a Head of Startups & Venture Capital at Star, you will define, run, and own initiatives that will expand Star’s industry market share through our ability to attract, retain, and grow world-class customers through our impactful, high-value adding offerings.
Responsibilities:
• Spend a significant portion of time in the field, developing and leveraging relationships through personal meetings, presentations and networking opportunities;
• Build a unique customer value proposition for each client in collaboration with product designers, solutions architects and industry leaders, while shaping and closing new projects with customers;
• Serve as an inspirational, effective and focused leader of a team consisting of both direct reports and matrixed commercial and delivery crew members across the globe;
• Grow business with existing customers 15-20% per year;
• Bring in new funded startup customers with $500k+ annual revenue run rate each;
• Establish and maintain a qualified, factored pipeline of a minimum of 2.5X the annual revenue targets;
• Own creation and execution of the global and regional sales plans focused on customer acquisition, retention, and growth;
• Lead from the front, developing and leveraging relationships through meetings, pitches, networking, speaking engagements, and events;
• Establish and implement OKRs and performance measures designed to track and report progress against the plan. Own executive and Board-level reporting on performance activities;
• Help recruit, activate, and manage high-performance crew members;
• Work closely with the Marketing and inside sales team on activities that generate lead flow and funnel traction.
Qualifications:
Must have:
• 10+ years of sales/business development experience selling product strategy, design, engineering or consulting services to startups;
• Deep knowledge of and relationships within the venture capital industry and startup ecosystem;
• Thought leadership and specific knowledge of key topics, including emerging technology and market trends;
• Sales hunter experience with an existing network in the startup ecosystem and a strong ability to identify and open new accounts;
• Experience using consultative approaches to acquire new clients through a charming attitude and an empathetic and strategic mindset;
• Proven ability to consistently meet and over-achieve commercial targets;
• Demonstrated capability to manage all phases of the sales process - from marketing and lead generation to closing deals and developing client relationships;

• Minimum 2 years recent Acute Care RN experience. Critical Care experience preferred.
• Current Connecticut RN License required prior to start date.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).

Job Duties
• Serves as key staff for assessment, implementation, and coordination of behavioral health interventions with inpatient and outpatient providers.
• Provide consultation and coordination of care for patients with outpatient clinic and hospital staff. Identify, refer and advocate for patients needing specialty behavioral health services (psychotropic medication management; psychological testing; cognitive behavioral therapy consultation); and/or referrals to behavioral health providers (e.g. psychiatric providers; clinical psychologist; therapists); and/or other services as needed such as referrals to a pain specialist or substance abuse counselor.
• Assist providers in patient chronic disease management, especially with an emphasis on documenting and responding to patient social determinants as a barrier to care when assisting patients.
• Completion of brief consultations with average of 6-8 per day, including but not limited to:
a. Individual, couples, and/or family consultation with patients;
b. Psychoeducation for patients and their support systems;
c. Medication adherence counseling and disease self-management counseling;
d. Motivational interviewing to develop behavioral strategies aimed at symptom reduction;
e. Brief problem solving cognitive intervention aimed at modifying negative thinking and promoting self- efficacy;
f. Self-care plan development and skills training to facilitate disease self-management, improved coping, distress tolerance, stress reduction and relaxation; and
g. Substance use/abuse evaluation, identification of maladaptive coping strategies, and development of harm reduction strategies.
• Consultation with PCPs to enhance understanding of the patient, provider decision support for treatment planning and assist in the implementation and monitoring of biopsychosocial treatment plans.
• Assist with referrals for patients for coordinated behavioral health services (e.g. health history documents, etc.).
• Crisis intervention / warm hand-offs – be immediately available to staff during working hours in the event of a psychiatric emergency and high risks presenting psychiatric/substance abuse problems, pain management, substance abuse; lead in these events.

• Serves as key staff for assessment, implementation, and coordination of behavioral health interventions with inpatient and outpatient providers.
• Provide consultation and coordination of care for patients with outpatient clinic and hospital staff. b. Psychoeducation for patients and their support systems;
c. Medication adherence counseling and disease self-management counseling;
d. Motivational interviewing to develop behavioral strategies aimed at symptom reduction;
e. Brief problem solving cognitive intervention aimed at modifying negative thinking and promoting self- efficacy;
f. Self-care plan development and skills training to facilitate disease self-management, improved coping, distress tolerance, stress reduction and relaxation; and
g. Substance use/abuse evaluation, identification of maladaptive coping strategies, and development of harm reduction strategies.
• Consultation with PCPs to enhance understanding of the patient, provider decision support for treatment planning and assist in the implementation and monitoring of biopsychosocial treatment plans.
• Assist with referrals for patients for coordinated behavioral health services (e.g. health history documents, etc.).
• Crisis intervention / warm hand-offs – be immediately available to staff during working hours in the event of a psychiatric emergency and high risks presenting psychiatric/substance abuse problems, pain management, substance abuse; lead in these events.

The Float Pool at Hartford Hospital, also known as the STAR Team, is comprised of experienced, highly skilled Nursing professionals. Registered Nurses on the STAR Team have a variety of skills, allowing them to transition from one specialty to another with confidence and ease. Our team is broken down into two groups, Med/Surg and Critical Care. The Med/Surg team floats between approximately 18 units (including the Step Down units) while our Critical Care RNs primarily float between the six ICUs at Hartford Hospital (MICU, SICU, Cardiac ICU, Neuro ICU and Cardiothoracic ICU). Our RNs rely on extensive nursing skills, strong communication and collaboration skills to assimilate seamlessly into different units and provide the highest levels of personalized, compassionate care to our patients.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 yrs recent Acute Care RN experience. Critical Care experience preferred.
• Current Connecticut RN License required prior to start date.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.

The Role
The Nurse Practitioner participates as a team member in an integrated performance clinic focused on physical and neurologic issues featuring a medical neurologist, chiropractors, a nutritionist, and massage therapists rendering conservative services to people with:
• Sports injuries
• Spinal conditions including disc displacement and stenosis
• General musculoskeletal injury
• Seniors with balance and functional deficiencies
• Neurologic issues including post stroke disability, PTSD, concussion, vertigo, and pathologic gait issues
• The need to be sport and activity ready
What You Will Be Doing
• Supervising Provider for all non-neurologic patient cases
• Diagnose complex medical problems utilizing patient history, examination, and results from neurological and other tests.
• Counsel patients about their presenting health issues and neurological disorders.
• Order and interpret necessary tests and studies.
• Coordinate musculoskeletal, functional, and orthopedic-based exam tests with PPI chiropractors.
• Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
• Prescribe and/or administer medications and treatment based on efficacy, safety, and cost.
• Monitor the side effects of treatments and medications as well as overall response to the patient’s treatment plan.
• Order supportive care services for patients.
• Coordinate treatment plans with the Medical Director and the chiropractors.
• Perform injections, phlebotomy, and IV therapies.
• Contribute to the patient case review process with the health care team to best establish an integrated approach for patient care recommendations.
• Communicate and consult regularly with the health care team to best determine patient responses to care procedures and recommend adaptations to treatment approaches as necessary.
• Participate in research activities.
• Interact with building and community medical professionals to establish referral relationships.
• Keep current with sports and family health care developments including diagnosis, treatment, and medication advancements.
• Become cross trained in performing neurological tests with the neurologist.
• Understand and utilize Electronic Health Record (Athena Health), to its fullest capabilities, and have record complete within policy regulations.
Education Expertise
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
• Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline
• NP-focused master's or doctoral nursing degree
• Active Texas License
• Five (5) years of experience as a practicing nurse practitioner
• Ability to perform injections
• Ability to draw blood a plus
• IV therapy certification is a plus. Willingness to become certified is required
