There are a few ways to measure the inside of something. One is to use a caliper and measure the thickness of an object at different points. Another way is to use ultrasound; by emitting sound waves and measuring the time it takes for them to bounce back, you can create a map of what's inside something. Finally, there are also lasers that can be used to measure the distance between two points on an object in order to calculate its volume.
