Functions:
• Must be able to function as assistant ordinance crew leader, quality assurance safety observer (QASO) to ensure all operations are performed safely and correctly in support of NAWSCL, NWTSCL Research, Test, Development and Evaluation) (RTD & E programs at the "O" level maintenance on the following aircraft. (AV-8B, F/A-18 (Series), & H-60).
• Coordinates and facilitates the assembly, installation, and adjusts aircraft armament parts, assemblies and accessories according to specifications, using technical directives, applicable publications, hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.
• Attach armament systems and components to aircraft, tests functional performance of installed ordinance, equipment and armament components, adjusts repairs or replaces unacceptable components.
• Prepare and load live ammunition and ordnance, as well as download unused ordnance after mission completion.
• Shall maintain and verify the daily aircraft ordnance load/fly-me requests in accordance with the Daily Flight Schedule for proper configuration and weapon system compatibility in accordance with the US Navy AV8-B Aircraft Tactical Manual.
• May require OJT/qualifications on other aircraft as operational commitments dictate.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:
• Must have completed USN / USMC Aviation Ordnance (AO) "C" school, training for F/A-18 (Series) / AV-8B aircraft, and conventional weapons loading school.
• Six (6) years hands-on experience may be substituted for AO "A" school.
• Must have ten 10) years' experience in Organizational experience supervising the loading and arming of all types of conventional ordnance on aircraft, five (5) of which must have been within the last eight (8) years at the organizational level.
• Not less than three (3) years T/M/S specific experience for the aircraft hired to maintain.
• Must be certifiable to supervise conventional/experimental ordnance loading. Shall be able to evaluate developmental/interim loading/downloading procedures/checklists.
• Must be able to maintain all required records to meet Navy standards for "O" level ordnance shops.
• Must be capable of being certified as a CDI, Two (2) years T/M/S experience within the last three (3) years preferred.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must have a current, active valid U.S. Secret level clearance and be able to maintain it.
• Must be available to work any shift.

Physical/Working Environment
• May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
• May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
• May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
• Must be able to perform tasks on, under, in and around aircraft.
• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications: The candidate must have completed the Navy Class "C" school in airframe and hydraulic repair for the position-specific T/M/S aircraft billet, or USMC/USCG (Five years organizational level experience on the applicable position-specific T/M/S aircraft may be substituted for the Class "C" school.). Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in organizational-level airframes/hydraulics maintenance in similar T/M/S aircraft. Must have three (3) years experience in the specific T/M required/Series preferred aircraft. Two (2) of the required three (3) years of type/model experience within the last three years is strongly preferred. Engine turn qualified and Auxiliary Power Unit designated personnel shall be at a minimum, level II mechanics. May be required to become Plane Captain certified by approved certification process for each T/M/S applicable to their background.

Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to qualify for and able to maintain a secret level clearance.

Duties: The candidate for this task is required to maintain and service the applicable aircraft airframe and hydraulic systems/components as required in support of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 31 RDT&E Programs by applicable publications and governing instructions.
