Job Description

Due to our continuous growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our Laboratory Logistics Team. Our Laboratory Logistics Team is a part of our Logistics group which also includes our shipping and receiving teams.

Your role will involve:
• Receiving consumables and raw materials from external suppliers, processing for storage and quality checking items upon arrival
• Receiving stock from our global production facilities and processing them into our automated storage systems
• Picking and delivering consumables and raw materials requests
• Use pipettes and liquid handling equipment to process into finished goods
• Assist with inventory and cycle counts
Qualifications

You will enjoy adapting to a changing environment and have a high attention to detail.  You will be able to work effectively in a diverse team towards a common goal. Your organizational and time management skills would have been gained in a fast-paced environment such as retail, hospitality, customer service, warehouse, distribution, logistics, or manufacturing.

You must be able to lift 50lbs (not very often) and this role will involve standing for 60-90% of the time. You must be a confident and effective communicator with both your colleagues and managers. You will have the ability and drive to meet deadlines. You must be educated to high school/GED level. 

The job could also require short periods in a freezer environment, insulated clothing will be provided. You also will be completing most of the work in a laboratory setting, which requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which will be provided for you. You will also be expected to be computer sufficient, including Microsoft Office.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technology scout in the Research and Innovation (R&I) function. Abcam is constantly identifying and evaluating technologies which will enable new products or enhance our discovery capabilities across R&D. These ideas and technologies come from inside Abcam, our many collaborators across academia and life sciences and biotech companies.

In this role you will collate ideas, scout for technologies and provide verbal and written technical evaluations into the Abcam innovation process. To achieve this you will work collaboratively with colleagues across our R&D platforms, research areas, corporate and business development functions. The role will report to the VP R&I.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Collate the requirements across R&D platforms and research areas to produce technologies roadmaps which compliment product roadmaps and guide technology and capability development.
• Scout for ideas and technologies ranging from the incremental to the transformative across Abcam, academia, life sciences reagents and tools companies and biotech.
• Monitor and report on emerging technologies.
• Build databases of technologies which can interrogated to determine future trends and potential customer needs.
• Evaluate technologies against the requirements set out by the business, e.g. target product profiles and make critical judgements on the suitability of the technology
• Present your findings in concise written form across the business, in particular to the research and innovation function and the Innovation Steering Committee.
• Act as a technical expert as Abcam evaluates corporate or business development opportunities.

Qualifications
• A life sciences background with a degree in a relevant science or engineering subject
• Strong understanding of life sciences innovation and the factors critical to successful commercialization of technologies. This may have been acquired working in venture capital or technology licensing.
• A proven ability to evaluate ideas and technologies based on the integration of evidence from a variety of sources, eg. presentations, scientific literature, discussions with colleagues.
• Comfortable working in a matrixed environment where success is achieved through listening and influencing.
• Highly organized and analytical with good record keeping skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Strong verbal & written communication skills are required.

• Construct, prepare, QC test or order reagent in-house or outsource, including primer design, gRNA or donor plasmid vector construction, ssDNA, ssODN donor, plasmid-mini-, midi-, or maxi-preparation or outsource, etc.
• Plan and manage multiple projects, conduct genotyping and gRNA validation using multiple approaches, including PCR, Sanger Sequencing, NGS, qPCR, ddPCR, Surveyor assay, or any other assays as needed
• Generate high-quality and deliverable data, perform data analysis and report in a timely, troubleshooting wherever needed
• Directly interact and update the project progress with the project manager for an efficient delivery

The Protein Product team is one of abcam’s emerging high growth area with increasing customer demand for new and high-quality products. You will be part of a team delivering a revenue KPI executed by global stakeholders throughout the organization including R&D, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing.

The role involves:
• Leverage your expertise in product management or marketing in biological life sciences to develop, position and grow abcam’s protein offering with customers across all segments
• Use analytics software to conduct in-depth analysis when new initiatives are proposed, and to map revenue performance across the protein portfolio, demonstrated in visual form (charts, graphs) both ad hoc and for monthly review meetings
• Support and input into the protein portfolio strategy for both in-house and OEM products to deliver revenue growth in the next three financial years
• Identifying unmet customer needs, gap analysis, and existing barriers to adoption and developing methods to address them
• Competitive landscaping including pricing, positioning, promotion and marketing activities
• Developing financial models to grow the portfolio in both revenue and profit margin

Qualifications

You have a minimum of three years working product analysis, product or project management or product marketing and have experience in a science/biology as it relates to protein expression, protein production, or protein focused assays.

You have a strong attention to detail and have some experience using tableau or a similar data analytics software. You are results-driven with a sense of urgency and a proven track record or delivery in a fast-paced environment. You have a problem solving mindset and experience working in cross functional or horizontal roles.

About the role

This exciting role will support Abcam’s Regulatory Compliance
Manager (Product Safety), with main accountabilities being the authoring and
maintenance of product safety data sheets (SDS) and hazard data for inclusion
on product labels in accordance with GHS, REACH, OSHA (HCS) and any other
applicable relevant global regulations. This role will interface closely with
Category and Supplier Management Teams and will principally involve SDS
updates, authoring of new SDS as required and the answering of relevant queries
via a dedicated inbox facility.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Generate compliant SDS for all new
products using Abcam’s dedicated SDS authoring application, WERCS
• Maintain existing product SDS ensuring
any updates to hazards and/or legislation are implemented
• Support managing a dedicated inbox
• Carry out routine governance and
oversight checks, particularly for antibody, protein, peptides &
lysates portfolios
• General Regulatory Compliance team

About you

Our ideal candidate will possess a
knowledge of Chemistry, Life Science or a related field.

Familiarity with global chemical
regulations (EU, GHS, OSHA (HCS) would be advantageous, but not essential
due to basic training being provided, as would any other experience of a
previous administrator role, junior regulatory affairs or product
compliance role.

You will benefit from being technically
minded, have the ability to work independently with strong communication
skills. You will hold yourself and others to high standards of accuracy
and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of the SDS authoring
application WERCS would be advantageous, as would any other experience
with this type of application

Job Description

With our ever expanding Protein Sciences team, we have created a new role and are looking for a Senior Scientist with experience in protein analytics to join the team. Based in our Waltham, MA office this role will support analytical characterization and method development for the global Abcam network. The will be responsible for implementing biophysical QC approach for proteins and antibodies to support our scientists.

Main duties and responsibilities:
• Ensure successful technical transfer of existing and new analytical methods across the Abcam network
• Ensure products which pass QC meet the established standards using accepted analytical techniques
• Troubleshoot technical and analytical problems within established analytical processes (including but not limited to RP-HPLC, SEC-HPLC, LCMS, DLS, etc.)
• Improve analytical method robustness as needed
• Draft technical documents and provide data analysis reports as needed
• Provide technical guidance and training to biophysical QC teams across Abcam as needed
• Contribute to the evolution of analytical methods by maintaining a strong understanding of alternative technologies and approaches
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership

Qualifications

You will have a PhD or Masters in Analytical Chemistry or Biochemistry plus 3 or 5 years of industry experience in a development setting. You are an expert in the analytical methods necessary for protein characterization with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems. You are self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, be a team player, and have strong knowledge and experience in advanced bioanalytical separation sciences including chromatographic, electrophoretic and mass spectrometry methods.

You have a solution-orientated attitude and strong logical thinking with excellent organization, coordination and communication skills and the ability to identify new methods for protein characterization.
