This selection procedure will be conducted using a continuous, non-competitive process. Applications are evaluated based on training, experience, education, certificates, and/or licenses. There is no examination.

This is a continuous eligible list, which will expire in six months, but may be extended. All applicants meeting the minimum requirements to file will be placed on the eligible list. Applicants receiving Veteran's Credit first and then in the order in which applications were filed.

Permanent Substitute Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:
• Provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers
• Co-teach with teacher-leaders
• Support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction
• Full participation in summer and school-year professional development, as well as regular meetings with the Academic Leadership Team
• Strong desire to collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence
• A strong commitment to all students with the belief that all students can learn and must be held to high academic standards
• Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building

ELL Support:
• Collaborate with Director of Student Support to identify new-to-New York ELL/MLL students in accordance with state and federal guidelines
• Collaborate with the Director of Student Support to identify proficiency levels and implement academic services for students with multilingual learning needs
• Monitor ELL student proficiency levels and needs to determine progress in English language development
• Maintain ELL/MLL student information in SIS systems and keep documentation on ELL/MLL students, their state testing scores, and proficiency levels;
• Collaborate with Director of Student Support to administer the NYSITELL to all new entrants within 10 days of entry to school;
• Collaborate with the Director of Student Support to administer the NYSESLAT to ELL students each year;
• Coordinate, schedule , provide and oversee small group pull-out services to Tier 3 students for intervention
• Implement Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention

Professional development:
• Participate actively in weekly scheduled professional development, including timely, quality completion of any assignments before and after each session.
• Provide input into the development of the school’s professional development priorities and feedback on weekly sessions.

Performance Evaluation
• Prepare for and participate actively in observations of your work by instructional leaders, and collaborate to act on their feedback for student achievement.
• Participate actively in annual evaluation of your performance, including timely and high-quality execution of all steps in the evaluation process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support to general education and special education students as mandated per student IEPs.

Monitor progress IEP goals associated with mandated services through adequate participation in student IEP meetings.

Provide group and individual counseling sessions to general education students and special education students by monitoring the students’ responses to the interventions identified.

Conduct collaborative consultations with general education and special education teachers to develop and monitor student responses to behavior intervention plans.

Complete functional behavior assessments and communicate the results to all team members with appropriate supportive language for teachers, students and families.

Facilitate educational and behavioral interventions recommended for student success through identifying community resources for students and make referrals to the appropriate resources.

Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a master’s degree in social work; exceptions may apply in New York and Ohio.

Must hold a valid social work license issued in the state you are applying for.
