ACLED material is regularly used to inform journalism, academic research, and public discourse on conflict, and to support the work of practitioners and policymakers.
ACLED is the highest quality and most widely used real-time data and analysis source on political violence and protest around the world.
The role:
ACLED is recruiting a Haiti Researcher to assist in the collection, review, and management of political violence and protest data across Haiti.
Researchers must be available for at least 25 hours per week.
This position is fully remote and can be done from any location with reliable internet service.

Collection of data is conducted by reviewing news, international organizations, NGOs, and security reports on Haiti and on the French Caribbean, and recording the incidents of political violence into an Excel template.
Researchers will focus on coding events to provide holistic coverage of current political violence, ranging from protests to battles.
Review and management of data involve ensuring the quality, consistency, and reliability of the data produced.
The role provides team members with experience conducting detail-oriented tasks, and producing and managing quantitative data.

Candidates who are selected will undergo extensive ACLED training.
The training consists of several exercises.
Candidates' exercises will be scrutinized and only those who are performing at the required level will be retained as Researchers.
For those selected, the initial consultancy period will be from February 2023 to June 2023.
After this, continuation may be possible, pending performance and availability of funding.
Remuneration:
Remuneration is 18 USD per hour.
Skills and competencies:
ACLED is seeking applicants who have the following skills and
Experience:
University degree in conflict studies, peacebuilding, international development, or related field Familiarity with Excel (essential); Fluency in English (essential) Fluency in Haitian Creole (essential) and French (essential); Research focus or professional experience related to political, social, and/or protest movements and conflict research or peace-building in Haiti is a strong advantage; Experience conducting desk-based research; Experience working to deadlines with limited supervision; A high level of attention to detail and ability to receive and incorporate feedback; Skills to produce quantitative and qualitative analytical pieces and visualization of data (preferred); Access to a computer, a reliable internet connection, email, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

The role:

ACLED is recruiting a full-time Senior Communications Coordinator to contribute to the management, growth, and professional development of the organization's Communications department. The ideal candidate will have management and training experience in a public relations, media, or non-profit setting, as well as the communications skills to lead promotional campaigns and outreach initiatives aimed at translating complex conflict data into digestible outputs for public use.

The Senior Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:
• * Strategy: Work with the Head of Communications to expand and execute ACLED's overarching communications strategy.
• Support operational planning and team management by coordinating projects and tracking progress (e.g. through Asana, Google Calendars, etc.).
• Public Outreach and User Engagement: Coordinate with the Head of Communications and other members of the Communications department to implement public outreach and user engagement plans, per the communications strategy.
• Oversee the production of outreach materials and public-facing resources like press releases, fact sheets, user guides, etc.
• Supervise social media messaging and content production.
• Liaise with the media and other key stakeholders to promote ACLED projects and disseminate content among relevant audiences.
• Brand Management: Coordinate with the Head of Communications and other members of the Communications department to execute ACLED's brand strategy and boost brand recognition.
• Publications: Coordinate with ACLED's Analysis department and other members of the Communications department to schedule, publish, and promote reports, infographics, and other analysis content, per the organization's research agenda.
• * Event Planning: Coordinate with the wider Communications department as well as ACLED's Operations and Programs departments to plan and hold webinars, panel discussions, conferences, and other events to promote ACLED's work and deepen connections within ACLED's user community, in line with the overall user engagement and public outreach strategy.
• Recruitment and Capacity-Building: In collaboration with the Head of Communications, identify opportunities for growth in the Communications department and oversee recruitment of new team members. Identify and procure new tools and resources to enhance capacities and efficiencies within the department.
• Training and Professional Development: In collaboration with the Head of Communications, develop and carry out media and public relations training programs for ACLED team members.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist in tracking and analyzing outreach impact, user engagement, and ACLED data usage (Google Analytics, Cision, and other tools such as interviews and surveys) for internal use as well as donor reports.
Skills and competencies

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Fluency in English (essential);
• Fluency in other languages, especially French, Arabic, and/or Spanish (preferred)
• Ability to work remotely with limited supervision;
• Good judgment extremely high attention to detail;
• Strong understanding of strategic messaging, brand and reputation management, and conflict sensitivity;
• Strong understanding of and experience working with media (candidates with journalism experience and an existing network of media contacts preferred);
