SUPERVISOR

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Performs various clerical duties including typing, answering phones, managing and responding to project-related correspondence, preparing and completing research applications, forms, minutes, lists of addresses, circulating Research Newsletter, and ordering books or other material, if needed.
• Assists supervisor in research, data collection, data management, and/or data analysis. Records research procedures and results; enters and retrieves data; codes data; verifies the accuracy and validity of data entered in databases for input for electronic data processing; maintains records.
• Assists supervisor in developing assessment and evaluation tools, questionnaires, and list of questions for focus groups or individual interviews.
• Facilitates gathering of materials and data for various projects and reports. Handles and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity.
• Provides other assistance, as needed, with specialized research projects requested by General Conference officers, Future Plans Working Group, ASTR director, or other church entities, working under supervisor.
• Performs various editorial duties; writes, reviews, edits, proof reads, and formats text and various materials for publication using MS Word and Adobe desktop publishing software.
• Prepares materials for submission in reports or PowerPoint presentations. Prepares tables, graphs, fact sheets, and abstracts/summaries of research results. Prepares findings for publication, conducts literature or report reviews.
• Assists in providing external research teams working on human-subject research projects with needed material.
• Identifies previous records and reports on human-subject research, program assessment, and mission-effectiveness evaluation, using Versatile software, MS access databases, and physical finding aids. Assists with labeling and shelving of documents and publications.
• Researches topical areas as requested including web searches.
• Assembles or digitally excerpts records identified as above and reports on research findings and potential relevance. Organizes such records (electronically or in hard copy), and summarizes them in bibliographic format, facilitating their presentation in research reports, publications, etc.
• Scans source materials to make them available for internal research or online for external researchers.
• Provides assistance with event planning and conducting meetings and conferences.
• Prepares progress reports for supervisor on research and evaluation projects.
• Acts as recording secretary for the Future Plans Working Group
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences, or business-related field required; postgraduate degree preferred
• Appropriate successful work experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirements.
• Two to three years of successful experience in a relevant position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Requires well developed knowledge of church employment policies and practice
• Must exhibit extensive initiative; works with minimal supervision. Adaptable and able to evaluate priorities.
• Ability to perform office and support duties with speed and accuracy. Must be creative in writing letters and in the handling of office affairs, both regular and special.
• Requires ability to work in high production office with many interruptions.
• Knowledge of up-to-date office procedures such as filing, telephone techniques, office equipment (including computer, etc.), English usage (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.).
• Position requires keyboard speed with high accuracy; strong existing computer skills with Microsoft Office (especially Access), Adobe Acrobat, and general Internet and electronic communications required.
• Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, French, or other than English language helpful.
• Must be able to facilitate good communications among departmental staff, other departments and outside personnel.
