The Visiting Assistant Professor is expected to teach one or two introductory courses each
semester, including a year-long survey. Candidates must have a strong commitment to
undergraduate education. The successful candidate will be eligible for support for research and
conferences.

The Department of History consists of ten historians conducting research on Africa, the Ancient
World, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the United States. See the department

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach a total of 5 courses during the academic year (3-2 teaching load) and support the academic mission of the department and the university.
EDUCATION
Required:
Advanced PhD candidates in History. Candidates must have passed their qualifying exams and
received ABD status.
Preferred:
• The ideal candidate will have:
• PhD in History by the date of hire
• Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level
• Demonstrated commitment to Trinity University's liberal arts mission
• A demonstrated commitment to Trinity University's value of intentional inclusion
• A willingness to support the goals of the Trinity University's Pathways general education curriculum
EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
• Taught courses at university level as a TA or an instructor of record
HOW TO APPLY

terminal (PhD, MFa, JD, etc.) degrees.
