General Job Description

The Discover Albany Visitor Services and Community Engagement Assistant is responsible for overseeing visitor services in Discover Albany’s downtown location and at the Albany International Airport Information Center. This position is also responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Director of Community Engagement.

Areas of Responsibility

General Office

· Coordinate visitor services at the Discover Albany downtown location

· Serve as Discover Albany’s liaison to the manager of the Albany International Airport Information Center

· Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Community Engagement which may involve program development, Discover Albany Partnership account management, report development

· Interact with customers via phone, email and customer messaging (LiveChat)

· Other tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

· Associate or bachelor’s degree preferably in business or tourism management and/or proven experience working in a professional office environment

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Willing to take initiative and work independently

· Proficiency in Microsoft applications

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· High standards of customer service

· Great team player

Salary Range: $43,000 – 47,000 commensurate with experience

Occupational Therapy Assistant (FT/Temporary)

Special Education – Berne Knox Westerlo Central School District

Basic Function:

This is a skilled paraprofessional position involving responsibility for the application of treatment procedures to residents to remedy or maintain the ability to cope with their environment. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director who evaluates the resident, develops the treatment plan, and designates treatment procedures to be followed. Progress and observations are reported to the Director who modifies the treatment to promote maximum rehabilitative and restorative measures. Does related work as required.

Qualifications:

A. Candidate must possess a New York State Department of Education certification to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant; and

B. Must be eligible to participate in the examination for national certification.

Vacancies are filled by certified list provided by Albany County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. Responsibilities:

1. Carries out occupational therapy procedures by working with residents individually or in groups to provide treatment of an illness or disability and training in the activities of daily living.

3. May fabricate and apply splints and other supportive devices, trains residents in self-care activities, and uses varied media to improve their physical or mental functioning.

4. Prepares and sets up occupational therapy treatment apparatus.

5. Participates with other facility personnel in the formulation of residents’ total health care plans.

6. Observes, records and reports residents’ reactions to occupational therapy treatments and programs.

7. Prepares and maintains records of treatment.

8. Provides for and observes safety precautions during all phases of therapy.

9. Inventories, cleans, stores and maintains supplies and equipment.

10. Attends meetings as directed.

11. Working knowledge of the principles, techniques and terminology of occupational therapy treatment procedures.

12. Working knowledge of occupational therapy materials and equipment and their appropriate application to a variety of resident disabilities.

13. Ability to observe, record and report residents’ responses to treatment.

14. Ability to work effectively with the aged, ill and disabled.

15. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
