Role Description

Progress your engineering career in one of the key roles within Allianz Engineering, Construction, & Power. Our Engineer Surveyors are at the forefront of our business, visiting client sites to carry out inspections and assess a wide range of plant and equipment.

As a newly recruited Engineer Surveyor at Allianz Engineering, Construction & Power, you would automatically be enrolled onto our unrivalled induction training programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer with a good knowledge of Pressure, Compressed Air & Steam equipment to join Allianz Engineering, a division of one of the largest insurers and financial services companies in the world.

We have opportunities across the following locations :

South East Surrey

North London

West London

Central London

Belfast

As an Engineer Surveyor, you will carry out hands-on inspections of plant and equipment in a wide range of locations such as factories, warehouses and other commercial premises.

You will work closely with your Engineer Surveyor Team managed by one of our Senior Operations Team Leaders. You will prepare reports of examination following your inspections using electronic reporting to ensure fast and efficient delivery to our clients.

This role forms an integral part of our business, as you examine various items of equipment including pressure vessels and boilers.

You will assess a wide range of installations, anticipate problems and help our clients to ensure that they comply with relevant legislation.

About You

The role requires the successful applicant to be :
• Up to date on your knowledge and understanding of all relevant compliance and regulatory rules and procedures that relate to the Pressure Mechanical discipline.
• Making well informed decisions, and willing to take responsibility.
• Being effective at short, medium and long-term planning, in order to diarise meetings, visits and work allocation.
• Being able to travel effectively within your local allocated work area.
• Willingness to support and deputise for fellow Engineer Surveyors (of own discipline) as and when required.

Skills & Experience :
• You will need to be passionate about engineering, self-driven with the ability to interact with a variety of clients daily
• A background working with steam generation, compressed air and associated plant ideally with manufacturing (QA and production), maintenance and operation, repair and site inspection experience
• Strong customer interaction skills are essential, including good oral and written communication skills.
• Incorporated Engineer (desirable)
• A holder of a full valid UK driving licence
• Time management skills are essential as you will be required to independently organise your week's work in an effective manner
• As tablets and smartphones are crucial tools for an Engineer Surveyor, you will need to be comfortable using these as part of your working day

Qualification requirements :

Successful candidates are required to hold a minimum level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering subject, ideally Mechanical Engineering, or be working towards a similar qualification.

You will be fully trained to provide a first-class service to ensure our BMW customers can get back on the road safely and in a timely fashion.

Starting and finishing from your home you will drive one of our fully equipped vans which will enable you to offer an excellent service.

You will ensure that our BMW customers receive an excellent service that improves their view of the brand when they need our roadside assistance service.

Our roadside repair technicians are empowered to take ownership of each assistance job they attend, by making the best and most appropriate decisions for each customer, to ensure they can continue their journey in their moment of need.

They say variety is the spice of life and there is no shortage of variety in this role! You will be empowered to use your excellent customer service skills and technical knowledge to repair the vehicle at scene using various technologies and diagnostic systems.

Or if necessary, undertaking or arranging recovery of the vehicle when it requires dealer workshop attention. In short, you will take responsibility for making the best and most relevant decisions for each customer to ensure they are back on the road in their moment of need.

Hours / Shifts :

• Able to start a little earlier or finish a little later? You will be paid on a Pay per job’ basis, up to £50 per job
• Working a Bank holiday? We provide a Bank Holiday financial supplement and a day off in lieu

What we’re looking for :
• You will be an experienced vehicle or roadside technician
• You must have diagnostic equipment experience
• You will have excellent fault finding and repair skills
• You must have excellent customer facing skills
• You will have a good level of IT competence
• You must have a full drivers’ licence
• You will be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances

Qualifications :

Manufacture apprenticeship or equivalent City & Guilds Technician Certificate Parts I and II NVQ / B-Tech diploma

You will receive excellent training for this role as we are dedicated to Achieving Excellence Through Learning.’ You are always encouraged to bring your ideas and highlight any areas for improvement in processes.

If you are not already EV trained, we will provide training you to at least EV Level 3 IMI Accredited & ATA Level 3 roadside diagnostics technician.
