Major Responsibilities:
• As part of the senior management staff, participates in strategic planning for the medical center and assists, as needed, in matters related to the Medical Staff and Clinical Care Delivery Systems. Assists in representing Medical Staff interests to Management, and serves in a liaison role between the two. Initiates, coordinates or assists in ongoing Medical Staff/medical center projects and activities.
• Assists the Medical Staff organization to function effectively and to achieve its short and long term objectives. • Serves as an integral member of the medical center's management team and works to foster positive team interaction to support medical center goals and projects.
• Provides leadership for capacity management initiatives working with all disciplines to improve patient flow in support of optimal patient care.
• Coordinates a system of patient care review through which the medical staff can monitor physician performance and the Credentials Committee can maintain appropriate physician privileges.
• Directs a medical center wide Performance Improvement Program to include the establishment of standards of performance, monitoring mechanisms and outcomes tracking for appropriate medical center departments and the Medical Staff and communicates relevant summary information to appropriate areas. Guides and directs the activities of the medical center's Performance Improvement Teams.
• Works with leadership to develop and support the medical center-wide clinical effectiveness agenda.
• Serves as a liaison between the medical center and various medical directors to assure appropriate communication and System response. Provides support for the medical center Medical Management program. Guides and supports medical staff continuing education activities.
• Develops relationships with medical center and community physicians to support medical center strategic initiatives. Establishes short and long-range objectives for assigned areas and implements tactical plans for their achievement in collaboration with medical staff and management personnel.
• Serves as a voting member of the Quality Joint Conference Committee of the Metro Region Governing Board and represents the policies and needs of the staff to the Board.
• Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
• Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
• Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
• Medicine and Surgery, MD-DO license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
• Psychiatry board certification issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Education Required:
• Doctorate Degree in Medicine.
Experience Required:
• Typically requires 10 years of experience in medicine practicing as a physician. Includes 7 years of experience in psychiatric, addictionology and other treatment modalities. Includes 5 years of management experience in overseeing medical staff, performance improvement and quality programs.

Children’s Surgery Department
Surgical services are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year with in-house staffing. The APH Surgery Department works in conjunction with Pre-Admission Testing, the Pre-Anesthesia Care Area, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The operating room is defined as the space and equipment necessary for the successful completion of surgical procedures. The APH Surgery Department, in conjunction with Anesthesia Services offers perioperative care to children, both inpatient and outpatient, who meet the anesthesia ASA Class I, II, III or IV physical status criteria of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
• The major services include elective, urgent and emergent surgical procedures for pediatric patients.
• Patients having local, general, monitored anesthesia care, or regional anesthesia are treated.
• Pediatric patients are accepted and approved by the attending surgeon and anesthesiologist. In the case of patients >21 years of age, a panel reviews the patient history and surgical needs for appropriate admission to APH
• The surgery department staff is scheduled to provide flexible nursing care and services for elective scheduled, STAT NOW, emergent and urgent cases around the clock.

Key Objectives:
We are looking for a dynamic self-motivated individual to prepare long-tail, general liability (asbestos, pollution, and other mass torts) claim presentations arising under ceded reinsurance contracts (treaty and facultative). The ideal candidate must have prior experience handling APH direct or reinsurance claims. It would be a bonus for a candidate to also have experience handling assumed reinsurance APH matters.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Ceded
• Works with Direct claim department to prepare detailed narrative of APH claims status, exposure, settlement allocation, etc.
• Research and document historical policy layoff and applicable reinsurance for policies involved in claim
• Assist with ceded reinsurance collections
• Analyze contract language and draft persuasive collections correspondence
• Respond to reinsurer inquiries
• Negotiate commercial resolution of disputed claims where appropriate
Assumed
• Evaluate applicability of claim coverage under reinsurance contracts
• Assess potential claim exposure under reinsured policies and reinsurance contracts
• Assess cedant settlements and allocation to available reinsurance coverage
• Analyze and produce reports highlighting large losses, coverage, and critical issues for review by claims management
• Identify and resolve differences in contract interpretation
