• Perform preventative maintenance procedures on all computer equipment on a scheduled basis.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware and software on all systems. Utilizes contracted vendor for assistance as needed in the troubleshooting process.
• Assist users with problems encountered while using systems and escalates problems as appropriate.
• Utilizes the departmental problem management tool and maintains detailed logs of problem/resolution activities.
• Maintains the security and integrity of computers and proprietary materials.
• Utilizes rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Probes all possible sources for answers.
• Monitors, manages, maintains and administers the server environment including Active Directory, Exchange, SQL database and applications.
• Secure all servers and prepares, as well as monitors, a disaster recovery, including backups of servers.
• Provide repair and upgrades for hardware, networks and software.
• Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of all technology parts and equipment.
• Installs hardware and software systems.
• Assists with gaming and non-gaming hardware and software.
• Remain current in the utilization of technology in the field of education by attending training sessions, seminars and workshops.
• Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as applicable.
• Conduct him/her in a gracious, kind and warm manner that creates a sense of fondness, as well as professional, courteous and responsive manner, which reflects positively on the company and its core values.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Job Qualifications
Any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 2-3 years computer networking and/or support experience. Excellent customer support skills with 1 to 2+ years of high-level technical support in Windows environment. 2+ years technical experience with computer software, including the installation and configuration of Windows programs. Majority of experience should be in the area of hardware repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in IT preferred. Ability to present self in a professional, pleasant, confident and well-groomed manner. Ability to perform basic math. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. Ability to work with the public and diverse departments and vendors. Full knowledge and understanding of company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. Knowledge of Microsoft Desktop O/S, Office, anti-virus.

This contract technician will have a working knowledge of general computer support processes related to both hardware and software as well as a substantial amount of direct experience supporting applications used in analytical laboratory environments.
Ideally, this person will have 1-3 years of experience implementing and supporting new lab system and software installations.
This person will serve as both a local project coordinator and as a primary technical resource for executing an operating system migration from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
This assignment requires working closely with internal company scientists, IT colleagues, and external software/hardware vendors on a regular basis. Previous IT project management experience is a strongly preferred.
Ability to work effectively with little direct supervision and the ability to research and address unique hardware/software technical problems is required.
The individual should have a good understanding of Client based hardware, Microsoft-based operating systems, network concepts, PC repair techniques, data management principles, and remote application support models.The person should also have previous experience working within a regulated environment with defined procedures for problem management and change management. The Candidate will:

• Review Specs, PRDs, SOW to make sure all Quality aspects are included in the product documentation and confirm that Product Spec and Test Documents are in sync.
• Update test documents with new features or experiences which involves creating and introducing new innovative test techniques or working with internal Microsoft teams to leverage their test collateral.
• Conduct technical reviews/audits throughout the development process. This would include reviews/audit of the test architectures, test plans, test cases, and test results from suppliers.
• Responsible for communicating program status and quality updates to upper management and key stakeholders.
• Be able to investigate, repro and debug problems and collaborate with project team on solutions. Provide first level investigation and repro steps to developer team for investigation.
• Create and introduce innovative test techniques and methods to ensure robust PC/product qualification.
• As part of Quality team, you are responsible for helping/supporting ongoing self-host activities and hardware manufacturing and validation in our factories. This involves troubleshooting and getting logs from failing machines and working on repro the issue later for investigation.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
