The Position:
The University of Arizona (UArizona) School of Natural Resources and the Environment (SNRE) seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, growth-minded, and entrepreneurial Director to lead one of UArizona’s largest and most complex schools. The new director will build upon a tradition of excellence to grow SNRE’s reach, profile, and programming, working closely with nine college academic unit heads, academic unit heads in other colleges, seven associate/assistant deans, the Cooperative Extension Director, Director of International Initiatives, Associate Vice President for Advancement, Advocacy, Alumni Affairs and Corporate Relations, and the Dean of the Rogers College of Law.
Reporting directly to the Vice President & Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Director will manage a budget of approximately $10M in payroll and operating expenses and oversee the School's 250 employees, including 36 faculty (including four Extensions specialists). The director is supported by two associate directors who manage graduate and undergraduate affairs, four faculty program chairs who manage faculty annual performance reviews, a business office with eight staff members including financial and IT professionals, and a four-person advising team.
The Director is responsible for:
• Building and leading all aspects of the School.
• Driving additional excellence in enrollment, programming, advancement, and partnerships.
• Increasing and maintaining connections with private, state, and federal agencies.
• Working with commercial and governmental partners in funded projects.
• Partnering with donors and community organizations to secure philanthropic funding.
• Leading financial and budget administration for the School.

The Position:
The University of Arizona (UArizona) School of Natural Resources and the Environment (SNRE) seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, growth-minded, and entrepreneurial Director to lead one of UArizona’s largest and most complex schools. The new director will build upon a tradition of excellence to grow SNRE’s reach, profile, and programming, working closely with nine college academic unit heads, academic unit heads in other colleges, seven associate/assistant deans, the Cooperative Extension Director, Director of International Initiatives, Associate Vice President for Advancement, Advocacy, Alumni Affairs and Corporate Relations, and the Dean of the Rogers College of Law.
Reporting directly to the Vice President & Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Director will manage a budget of approximately $10M in payroll and operating expenses and oversee the School's 250 employees, including 36 faculty (including four Extensions specialists). The director is supported by two associate directors who manage graduate and undergraduate affairs, four faculty program chairs who manage faculty annual performance reviews, a business office with eight staff members including financial and IT professionals, and a four-person advising team.
The Director is responsible for:
• Building and leading all aspects of the School.
• Driving additional excellence in enrollment, programming, advancement, and partnerships.
• Increasing and maintaining connections with private, state, and federal agencies.
• Working with commercial and governmental partners in funded projects.
• Partnering with donors and community organizations to secure philanthropic funding.
• Leading financial and budget administration for the School.
• Recruiting diverse students and faculty. Advocating for an inclusive environment.
• The School Director, who will have both College and Extension appointments, will be a proven entrepreneurial and innovative leader with demonstrated excellence and outstanding achievements warranting a tenured appointment as Full Professor.
Required Qualifications:
• A terminal degree and experience commensurate with a full professor.

The primary role of the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of the Practice is to create an engaging and meaningful learning experience for students in statistics and data science courses ranging from introductory undergraduate through master's degree level. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated to providing high quality instruction and who will bring enthusiasm and expertise to this endeavor. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with other faculty to contribute to and be part of an innovative teaching and learning environment, and to help develop effective curricula for our Statistics and Data Science degree programs. This is an academic-year, non-tenure track teaching appointment. After the first academic year, multi-year contracts may be available, pending performance review. Duties & Responsibilities
• The primary responsibility is to teach in-person statistics and data science courses across the range of the undergraduate curriculum, as needed by the department. There is also the opportunity to teach classes in the new professional master's program in Statistics and Data Science once that program is underway.
• Incumbents are expected to participate in various departmental activities, such as tutoring and mentoring programs. Full-time appointments usually require teaching 6-9 credit hours each semester, depending on course demands and departmental needs.
• After the first year, it is expected that incumbents will serve as a faculty advisor to several SDS undergraduate/graduate students.
• Additional responsibilities include attendance at all appropriate course meetings, faculty meetings, committee meetings, and related professional development sessions.
• There is a possibility of teaching in the summer for additional compensation, depending on availability of classes.
Minimum Qualifications
• PhD in statistics or closely related field, with a strong background in coursework that aligns with our undergraduate curriculum.
• Significant experience teaching in a university or college setting.
• Experience with the content areas of probability, statistical methods, generalized linear models, statistical computing, and machine learning.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience suited to teach the full range of undergraduate and introductory graduate courses in statistics/data science.
• Experience with curriculum development at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Experience teaching undergraduate courses in large format (100+ students).

Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as a principal leader in Program Director's absence.
Provide mentoring to principal faculty related to teaching, site development and clinical phase components.
Oversee, monitor, and maintain the clinical phase of the curriculum including curricular mapping.
Supervise and recommend clinical curriculum revisions as needed.
Supervise the calendar for all clinical curricular activities.
Work with the Program Director to develop, provide or identify appropriate faculty development opportunities.
Support the program in meeting accreditation requirements.
Encourage educational research and state/national presentations by faculty.
Service to the Program and University, e.g., committees, volunteerism, etc.
Participation in the selection process of entering students.
Participation in grant related activities.
Track performance of students during the clinical phase.
Provide oversight and guidance to remediation activities.
Recommend and implement revisions to program policies and procedures related to the program's clinical curriculum.

• Maintain detailed records of interactions and conduct telephone-based follow-up calls with study participants.
• Travel between clinic sites for data collection and recruitment purposes. Clinic sites include Banner University North Campus, Neurology Clinic, and Banner University South Campus, Neurology Clinic.
• Participate in weekly meetings with PI, Co-Is, and other research staff.
