The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses in civic thought to include a course the history of moral and political thought, a course in American political thought, and a course in the history of economic thought and debates on capitalism. Further, the successful candidate will develop combined graduate (M.A.) and undergraduate seminars in particular areas of moral and political thought, American political thought and leadership, and economic thought. These courses will be taught in-person and online, with the majority taught in-person.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: In addition to teaching, administrative responsibilities will focus on supporting the Director of Graduate Studies (a tenured professor) to manage and develop the School’s M.A. degree; to include working with a graduate studies committee, and collaborating with the academic advisor along with other School staff. The Graduate Director is charged with building enrollment in this new M.A. degree, both in Arizona and nationally (courses are offered both in person and as live online seminars), and both among school teachers and a broader set of potential graduate students seeking a liberal arts foundation for civic leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• PhD or DPhil in Political Science, History, or related disciplines with a focus on political thought and/or American political thought
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, including Socratic, discussion-based teaching
• Demonstrated evidence of organizational and communication skills
• Demonstrated effectiveness working with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations and communities

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience creating curriculum (both discussion-based and lecture courses), formative and summative assessments, classroom activities, and using an online learning management system
• Demonstrated success in fostering discussion among diverse viewpoints and fostering student participation in expressing diverse views

Job Description
The Coordinator of Athletics Compliance is responsible for providing a high level of professional service by advising and educating Arizona State University, Sun Devil Athletics, and other athletics stakeholders on a broad range of compliance matters, along with participating in institutional efforts to detect and deter violations of NCAA, Pac-12 Conference, and University rules and regulations.

The Coordinator participates in rules education and internal monitoring activities for a variety of areas to assist ASU and SDA in meeting goals and objectives with strict adherence to NCAA, Pac- 12 Conference, and University rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of SDA and the Arizona Board of Regents. The Athletics Compliance Office reports to the President, through the Senior Vice President and General Counsel. The Coordinator position is under the general supervision of the Chief Athletics Compliance Officer and under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Athletics Compliance. The Athletics Compliance Office is located in the Carson Student-Athlete Center on the Tempe campus. The Coordinator is a university staff position.

Essential Duties
• Assists in the review and maintenance of components of the department's compliance software system, including practice, recruiting, and telephone logs.
• Assists with the administration of the complimentary ticket process and other assigned duties at athletics events.
• Participates in compliance office monitoring efforts. Assists in the preparation of NCAA reports.
• Assists in the administration of compliance office programs and processes.
• Researches and provides interpretations as assigned within the compliance department. Participates in the drafting and submission of eligibility and other waivers.
• Participates in the education of SDA and other athletics stakeholders regarding NCAA, Pac-12, and University rules and regulations.
• Participates in the evaluation, development, maintenance, and administration of policies and procedures designed to maintain institutional control within SDA.
• Supports the efforts of the Director of Athletics Compliance to manage athletics and financial aid responsibilities for the compliance office.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing professional networks.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE : Regular work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, to include evenings, weekends and holidays based on project needs. Some travel will be required.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of athletics compliance experience at the institutional, conference, or national association level OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Position requires strong computer and analytical skills, well-developed written and oral communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple projects. Must have successful experience working in a collaborative and team oriented environment.

Desired Qualificiations
• Evidence of Master's degree or J.D. from an ABA accredited law school with one (1) year full-time, post-baccalaureate NCAA Division I compliance experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I legislation in the areas of eligibility. Demonstrate knowledge of campus academic and financial aid policies, administrative procedures, and relevant state and federal regulations.
• Experience in recruiting.
• Experience in compliance monitoring systems.
• Experience in Compliance Assistant.
• Experience in PeopleSoft.
• Experience in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
• Experience communicating professionally

Working Environment
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
• Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
• Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
