Job Overview
POSITION
Atomic makers work on self-managed, cross-functional teams of 2-10 designers, delivery leads, developers, and testers. They collaborate to create products for our clients, from the idea phase through launch and beyond. Projects typically span 6 to 12 months, so you will have many opportunities to work with different people and tackle new challenges.
As a senior software developer at Atomic, most of your time will be spent writing tests and code alongside other Atoms. But your role isn't limited to technical responsibilities. Atomic promises clients a great experience and a great product. Senior software developers deliver on that promise by being kind, curious, positive individuals who provide excellent high-level technical advice to a diverse set of clients.

Key Responsibilities
ENGINEERING BEST PRACTICES
• Write clean, logical, high-quality code and adopt test-driven development and Agile practices.
• Stay up to date on new technologies and approaches to software development.
• Adopt a pragmatic approach to time management with regard to project tradeoffs (e.g. refactoring vs. new feature development).
• Contribute to project documentation as needed by internal and external teams.
TECHNICAL APPROACH
• Work on custom software products leveraging many languages, frameworks, and platforms.
• Value general versatility and flexibility over focused specialization.
• Get up to speed on existing projects' domains, technology stack, and platforms.
MENTORING
• Pair with other team members to transfer knowledge and experience gained.
• Possess a kind and curious approach to collaboration with Atomic and client teams.
• Understand that mentorship is a two-way street; we can all learn from one another.
• Be comfortable working on teams with members of varying levels of experience.
AGILE METHODOLOGIES

Job Overview
POSITION
Quality Analysts at Atomic don’t have to waste time finding the same bugs over and over again.
Our development process eliminates those with test-driven development and scripted, automated
tests. Every Developer at Atomic is responsible for the quality of the work they and their team
deliver. Testing is not an afterthought or a task for someone else to do. As a result, Quality
Analysts at Atomic aren’t the sole source of quality assurance or the last line of defense for bugs.
Instead you’ll provide a greatly appreciated boost of testing and a unique, fresh perspective.
Atomic is a consultancy. As such, you'll be empowered and expected to interact directly with
clients to make an impact on a daily basis. You’ll need to become comfortable and effective at
understanding and discussing business goals, budgets and timelines with clients. You’ll need to
be a strong verbal and written communicator. You’ll also need to be highly organized and good at
managing your time.
Additionally, you’ll help market our services in a variety of ways including contributing to our
shared company blog, networking within our client’s organizations and among your peers, and
expanding your creative energies in ways we will not attempt to predict.
DETAILS
• Home base in Ann Arbor—with occasional travel between offices
• Generally present in office on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
• Occasional evening and weekend assignments, as required and possible

Key Responsibilities
QUALITY BEST PRACTICES
• Be excited about learning new things: we use new tools, languages, and approaches on every
• project, so you’ll get a chance to explore different ways of solving problems
• Stay informed about best practices related to development practices, including quality
• assurance, and apply those to our work
• Decide, in collaboration with your team, on the best approach to quality for each engagement
MANUAL OR CONTEXT DRIVEN TESTING
• Execute manual test cases including ad-hoc and exploratory testing as needed by product
• teams
• Document and/or review testing results by working closely with Developers, Delivery Leads and
• clients to resolve issues
• Bring a friendly attitude toward trying to break your teams’ code to improve overall software
• quality
AGILE METHODOLOGIES
• Participate in the Agile project flow providing feedback in all areas, paying close attention to
• high risk areas and communicating testing concerns
• Acceptance testing of features as they are completed to evaluate if design and functional
• acceptance criteria are met. Provide feedback where necessary
• Triage incoming bug reports and prioritize them according to severity
• Work with Atomic & client teams on troubleshooting production issues
• Make software configurations to simulate specific configuration scenarios for successful testing
• results
• Self-manage capacity to serve multiple teams and project timelines
GENERAL EMPLOYMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work a full-time job (generally 40-42 hours per week)
• Track time daily
• Engage in professional development and continued learning outside of work hours
• Contribute to Atomic’s blog approximately once every 50 days
• Travel occasionally—as needed and possible
Requirements
Applicants should have prior experience as an exploratory or context-driven tester on software
teams. We’re looking for the following:
• 5+ years experience working with software teams as a Tester or Quality Analyst, reporting
• directly to a technical lead, product owner, or product manager
• Some experience working with autonomy and creativity to serve software teams through
• various test-related activities throughout a product or project lifecycle rather than in a fixed
• sequence or particular phase
• A bachelor’s degree or commensurate professional experience are preferred
