Compensation and Benefits:

At Aura, we believe in creating a happy and supportive work environment so you are set up to succeed in your job and do the best work of your career. We have offices in New York City and San Francisco. Compensation for this position is $130,000-$150,000 depending on experience.

AURA has an immediate opening for a full-time *Bookkeeper [USA - Remote]. The expectation will be Monday - Friday during core business hours (9 AM to 5 PM EST). Preference will be given to applicants in the Washington, DC and surrounding areas as well as Charleston, SC. Please note that direct experience with Costpoint (by Deltek) accounting system is required. *We are open to filling this role as a part-time opportunity (please see the note below about benefits).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform critical accounting functions in line with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) accounting requirements and company general ledger accounts
• Process and reconcile expenses for staff and ensure accurate recordkeeping and timely reimbursements if applicable. Prepare and submit employee records and documentation per company requirements.
• Verify transactions across multiple accounts by reconciling monthly statements; research and resolve discrepancies and outstanding expense documentation.
• Respond accurately in a timely and professional manner regarding inquiries and concerns.
• File source documents and maintain files
• Ensure compliance within scope of work and champion internal controls and procedures
• Collaborate with external accounting firm as necessary to accomplish duties
• Review and maintain high level understanding of federal travel regulations (FTRs) as well as the General Services Administration (GSA) policies and regulations
• Ensure internal T&E policy is up to date and staff are functioning in compliance with policy

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review and match invoices for payment; check for proper authorizations and coding.
• Enter and process accounts payable invoices
• Add new vendors to accounting system and ensure proper vendor paperwork is acquired (e.g. W-9, ACH, etc)
• Enter new or update vendor names and data, schedule payments, process stop-payments and resolve payment issues.

WORK EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• DIRECT EXPERIENCE WITH COSTPOINT (by DELTEK) ACCOUNTING SYSTEM.
• Requires 3-5 years accounting/bookkeeping experience
• Direct experience with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) accounting requirements
• Associates Degree in Accounting or similar field
• Direct experience with a travel and expense system (e.g. Concur or similar)
