Automotive News is seeking a Data/Research Associate to join its Data Center team. The ideal candidate should be detailed-oriented and have experience working with several data sets in a deadline driven, fast paced environment. The data/research associate will be expected to help analyze data using statistical techniques, implementing and maintaining databases, gathering data from... primary and secondary sources, identifying and interpreting trends from the data. You will also be expected to manage research projects that create new data sets for the Data Center, such as organizational charts, production mapping and salary surveys.
Position will work a hybrid schedule from our Detroit, Michigan office.
Responsibilities
• Survey, research and compile data for Automotive News’ annual lists and special projects
• Maintain multiple databases
• Verify accuracy of data collected
• Process and prepare data for publication in print and online
• Manage several projects in various stages of completion
• Assist reporters and editors with data requests and projects
• Assist subscribers and outside companies with data-related questions
• Assist with statistical weekly and monthly deadlines when necessary
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an industry-related field
• Strong proofreading skills and keen attention to detail
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Past work experience which demonstrates ability to multitask and stay organized
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and PC operations
• Willingness and ability to readily respond to changing circumstances and expectations
Preferences
• An interest in Automotive data research and the automotive industry a plus, but not required
• Experience and knowledge of layout and design software
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.
Pay Transparency Disclosure:
The estimated salary range for this position is $45,000 to $60,000.
The final salary offering will take into account a wide range of specific and relevant factors, including experience, accomplishments and location. The salary range provided should not be considered as a salary limit or cap. In addition to base salary, Crain also offers competitive benefits including retirement plan savings contributions and bonus opportunities based on individual and company performance.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications
• 1-3 years of experience in account management, digital advertising, integrated marketing, analytics or related field

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and an excellent ability to multitask
