This position is part of the team that manages The Arizona Republic's main branded accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, other social platforms and direct audience outreach. The team optimizes the distribution of our journalism on social platforms to attract and engage new audiences. They build trust with our audience by curating a voice on each social platform that reflects the personalities and interests of Arizonans while remaining a reliable source for accurate and timely news updates.
This role will focus heavily on growing our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts and using those platforms to reach underserved audiences. Creating social graphics and audience engagement plans to reach younger audiences on emerging platforms will be a big priority in this role, as will be using social media to drive subscriptions.
We're looking for someone who is well-versed in emerging platforms, enjoys finding creative ways to explain the news on social media through a variety of mediums and has a strong sense of what resonates with the different audiences of our main social media platforms.
Candidates should have some experience managing social media at a news outlet, including during breaking news and live events, and be comfortable designing social graphics. Experience working on collaborative audience engagement projects is preferred. Knowledge of analytics tools such as CrowdTangle, Google Analytics, Parse.ly and social engagement insights is also a plus.
