Baker College Professional Services, Inc. seeks to hire an individual to be assigned to the position of NURSING FACULTY (SPECIALTY COORDINATOR - MEDICAL/SURGICAL)(FULL-TIME) for the benefit of and to be located at Baker College of Owosso.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Nursing Specialty Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of a core nursing content area and the associated clinical practicum experience associated with that course. This coordinator will focus on promoting achievement of student learning outcomes for the assigned course and will also work closely with adjunct clinical faculty in regards to their orientation and preparation for the clinical experience. This coordinator will also be responsible for evaluation of all clinical adjunct faculty assigned to that course and for recruitment and hiring of clinical faculty for the assigned specialty course.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides leadership and lead instruction for assigned specialty course(s) and other supplemental courses as needed
• Assigns and schedules students for course work in these areas
• Provides laboratory and clinical instruction in core specialty areas and other areas as needed
• Assists the Director with curriculum planning, textbook recommendations, ongoing assessment and evaluation, and revisions for the assigned core specialty courses
• Assists with hiring adjunct clinical faculty for core specialty areas
• Provides orientation and mentoring of clinical faculty in core specialty courses
• Regularly meets with and evaluates bi-annually adjunct clinical instructors in core specialty courses
• Advises and counsels pre-nursing and nursing students privately as well as during orientation and registration sessions
• Assists with student tutoring when indicated
• Assists in administration and proctoring of standardized admission testing for nursing applicants and for core specialty courses
• Participates in department, division, and program meetings
• Participates in professional development and/or clinical experience (real world work) to maintain current knowledge in nursing and educational methodologies
• Maintains standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional nursing faculty position
• Other projects mutually agreed upon with his/her Dean and/or Director of Nursing
• Other duties as assigned

The Safety Officer provides personal, equipment, and real property
security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors within an
assigned area of the Baker College campus. In addition, a Safety
Officer provides escort services and basic public assistance, as
needed, and performs routine security and public safety patrol
duties on campus. Remains alert to emergency situations and
provides first-line response and emergency management.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
• Patrols assigned area on foot, in assigned motor vehicle, or
other specialized vehicle to ensure personal, building, and
equipment security.
• Examines doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; monitors
closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious
activities.
• Informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as
loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Provides escort services for visitors, students, staff, and
faculty, as necessary; provides other public assistance, such as
lockout services, jump-starts, and routine information.
• Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security
breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations;
contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or
ambulance personnel, as required.
• Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or
security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or
notifies police as appropriate; may confront and/or detain
violators, as required, until police arrive.
• May provide safe and efficient transportation to University
employees and/or visitors, as requested, using an institutional
vehicle.
• Patrols and monitors assigned parking areas and/or parking
garages to provide public security and assistance.
• Investigate incidents/accidents and prepare routine,
standardized incident reports.
• Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery
Act.
• Act as desk officer when necessary.
• Assist municipal, county and state police agencies when
appropriate.
