About the role: As Programmes Officer you will play a vital role in providing leadership, management and operational support to the Faculty Student Centre team. You will have direct line management responsibility for a team of administrators, ensuring a high level of administrative support is provided for the assessment We are looking for a pro-active and self-motivated Programmes Officer to join the Faculty of Engineering & Design Student Centre team.

About the role:

As Programmes Officer you will play a vital role in providing leadership, management and operational support to the Faculty Student Centre team. You will have direct line management responsibility for a team of administrators, ensuring a high level of administrative support is provided for the assessment business for the Faculty’s Taught Programmes (UG and PGT). This will include encouraging and promoting collaborative team working, identifying opportunities for common systems and processes, standardising best practice within the University regulations, and developing the skills and competencies of the FSC team. Working closely with your fellow Programmes Officer(s), you will also work on a range of faculty-wide projects. This is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with academic and professional services colleagues... and students.

About you:

Our ideal applicant will:
• Have previous management experience of team working in a leadership role
• Have a good understanding and experience of programme administration
• Have excellent organisational skills, able to manage a complex workload maintaining attention to detail at times of pressure
• Be a strong team player, able to demonstrate a collaborative approach and a willingness to work flexibly as part of a team
• Have excellent and effective communication skills
• Have strong computer skills, with sound proficiency in Word and Excel and confidence to learn the use of web-based management information systems.

Experience in the use of University-specific software (Moodle, SAMIS/SITS and Business Objects) is desirable though not essential. Most important though is an interest in our work and a willingness to become fully involved in the life of the Faculty and its departments.

Taking ownership of a portfolio of postgraduate courses, you will provide an outstanding experience for our applicants throughout their application process. You will assess applications in a fair and consistent way against agreed criteria. You will also be checking decisions made by other members of the team and assessing the fee status of applicants.

You will respond to enquiries from prospective postgraduate students and their representatives, providing advice and guidance. You will also be involved in supporting virtual... recruitment activities.

This is a permanent full-time role (36.5 hours).

About you:

With a background in customer service and administration, you will enjoy working in a dynamic environment where a high level of accuracy is key. Ideally, you will have worked within higher education, however, we welcome applications from other administrative backgrounds. You will also have:
• Effective communication skills, ability to adapt to supporting students, academic staff, external organisations, or other members of the team
• A high standard of IT and administrative skills, including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
• An ability to work effectively in a team and independently
• An ability to stay calm and work efficiently and accurately in a busy customer service environment
