As an... Electronics & Gaming Editor at BestReviews, you will be responsible for writing and editing specialized lifestyle and review content to adhere to the highest of publishing standards. You will be a subject-matter expert in your space with credentials to show for it. The content you’ll work on will include lifestyle articles, gift guides, product reviews and buying guides under the guidance of e-commerce market trends as well as BestReviews editorial managers, and Testing Lab. As an electronics and gaming editor, your specialty should range from TVs and home audio systems to gaming chairs and HDMI cables. You will report to channel editors and work via BestReviews’ CMS to make edits, fact-check and provide feedback to writers in accordance with journalistic best practices.
The Electronics & Gaming Content Editor role is a part-time, fully remote contracted position requiring 20+ hours a week. Rate range: $32-40/hour, depending on experience and specialization.
Primary responsibilities:
• Pitch, write and edit e-commerce aligned features, roundups, gift guides and buying guides in the electronics and gaming categories
• Collaborate with writers, editors and managers to discuss market trends, annual calendar integration and other events into content planning
• Track news in the electronics and gaming spaces for trending news coverage
• Maintain relationships with BestReviews experts through interviews and requests for comment
• Work closely with the Testing Lab in discerning best product picks according to content type and format
• Adhere to SEO best practices for content optimization
• Participate in tentpole sales day coverage, including Prime Day and Black Friday events
The ideal candidate will have:
• Proven specialization and experience in both the electronics and gaming spaces. Writing clips aligned with e-commerce coverage are required
• Strong news sense and creativity in topic pitches. Experience in SEO analytics a plus
• Knowledge of current market trends and news pertaining to specialty
• Experience in editorial fact-checking
• Research skills, including being willing to tap into internal testing and expert sources
• Experience using various content management systems (e.g. WordPress)
• A fine eye for following in-house style and familiarity AP stylebook
• Ability to work remotely communicating via Slack, Google Meet and email
