Job Description
the bonfire effect...
We pride ourselves on our great client relationships. But those relationships don't build themselves. We're looking for an experienced Account Manager to join our Fort Collins team and take the lead.
A thriving creative branding and marketing agency, Bonfire Effect boasts a passionate team of problem solvers who put in the work to ignite our clients' brands - whether that's a local nonprofit or large global technology company. We're a diverse crew of folks who start fires. Not literally (though we do have an annual Bonfire bonfire), but the ones that spark change and illuminate new opportunities. We work smart, play hard, and live with passion. Some of us love websites, some love email, some love PowerPoint (J/K, no one loves PPT). Some of us love videos of raccoons eating with their little hands. We don't judge. We embrace our differences and look for ways to fuel each other's interests. And you're in luck; we're currently looking to add an experienced Senior Account Manager to the family.
Pull up a chair. Let's start something.
the role.
As a star-studded Account Managers (AM), you'll play a critical role in fulfilling the Bonfire Effect mission to be the best creative brand-builders and storytellers who hear, love, and inspire people. Our passion is to fuel contagious love by helping people thrive, having fun, and telling stories that stand out. Your role in this mission involves managing key accounts and maintaining excellent relationships with clients, employees, and suppliers. As a key player in the account services department, you'll be the main point of contact for three to five key accounts, helping steer the day-to-day activities of the Project Managers (PMs) and Project Coordinators (PCs). And since we're not a top-heavy, ego-driven agency, you're welcome (and encouraged) to jump in and help with whatever feeds your personal fire.
day in the life.
At Bonfire Effect, the Account Manager is accountable for five key functions, including:
Manage and nurture accounts
• Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships while serving as the lead point of contact for all customer account management matters.
• Consistently show strong interpersonal and communication skills, finesse delicate client relationships while driving the agency to produce its best results. Know when to push and when to let things simmer.
• Be first point of contact for areas of escalation and provide sound judgement on how to handle complex situations pertaining to client satisfaction.
• Show off successes. Make it easy for your client to look good. Share results and metrics. Pull reports before they asks. Create an easily-forwardable email or meeting summary. Share it internally, too - your team pulled it off!
Account strategic planning
• Be an expert on our products and services-including strategy, brand, content, campaigns, and web-and know how to apply your expertise to help grow (and challenge) our clients and prospects.
• Demonstrate strong finesse, stress management, and organization skills to effectively balance the needs of the client against the agency's bottom line, while being driven by a complex timeline of tasks.
• Don't be an order taker and push back tastefully (that's why they hired us). But at the same time, know when to give in.
• Own the lifecycle of a project. Understand the ask, define the scope, write the brief, manage the creep, and deliver work worth celebrating.
• Yes, you'll need to be comfortable talking about money. For most clients, conversations about money aren't awkward. It's the surprise at the end when you're 250% over budget and didn't warn them that's awkward.
• Be the ultimate quality control on the accounts you lead, ensuring our work lives up to our quality standards and delivers on scope and assignment. If work leaves the agency, you - personally - take responsibility for it being on time, on target, and on budget.
Team leading, coordinating
• Demonstrate strong collaboration and teamwork skills, bringing excitement, alignment, and value to each project.
• Provide strategic direction and task management for support staff (PMs, PCs, interns) and creative team.
• Effectively communicate client agendas to other staff members. In other words, be the voice of the client and understand their motivations and preferences deeply. Be able to accurately communicate not only the basics of a project, but the more subtle preferences and politics that will make the agency invaluable to the client.
• Understand the concept of feedback. Feedback is not a yes or no proposition. Whether it's strategy or creative, keep the client talking. Find out what elements they like / don't like. What the key issues are. What - specifically - is off strategy. Where their concerns are coming from, etc. Never come back to the agency with “they hate it.“
Business development
• Seek new opportunities to add value to existing clients. Stay on top of your client's industry and competition. Understand key successes our agency has had in similar categories. Try to come to every major meeting with a new idea or approach.
• Network online and offline to find new business opportunities.
• Learn to qualify leads by discerning fit, alignment, competition, and timeline.
• Lead and manage new business presentations, scope definition, and proposal response (don't worry, we don't waste time responding to blind RFPs).
• Support general marketing activities in some way (e.g. events, videos, blogs, social, etc.) when client workload permits.
Leading meetings and presenting
• Be passionate about presenting. You're representing the best work and advice our agency has to offer. Be proud of it. Convey enthusiasm. Get the client talking.
• Prepare and research, develop presentation and/or agendas, identify optimal team, determine meeting roles / responsibilities, and be the meeting QB for internal, new business, and existing client meetings.
• Bring fun and enthusiasm to every meeting. A meeting with Bonfire Effect should be the best meeting of our client's day. So let go and have fun! (it's one of our core values).
• Be confident in your presentation skills, and ability to plan, prepare, and adapt on the fly.
what you'll need.
Minimum requirements
• Bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, advertising, PR, or relevant field

• General knowledge of website design and build process
• Willing to lead clients, teams, and vendors with humility and servitude (we're OK with apologizing when we make mistakes)
• SmartSheet, Excel, or other Google Sheets; able to sustain spreadsheet engagement for longer than 15 minutes without losing consciousness
• All the necessary tech stack expertise, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); marketing automation platform, Adobe CC, and PM software experience a bonus.
• Reliable means of transportation (car, bike, motorcycle, bus, longboard, rollerblades anything goes as long as you get to our Old Town HQ)
Nice-to-haves (but not a deal-breaker)
• Extensive B2B and / or enterprise, corporate marketing experience
• Project management certifications (e.g. Scrum, Agile, PMI, etc.)
• Project management tools (e.g., Basecamp, Timely, Jira, Confluence, Asana, etc.)
• Marketing automation tools including Eloqua, Marketo, Hubspot, and/or Salesforce
• Social media strategy and management, including Facebook Ads Manager and scheduling tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.

• Salary range between $70k to $90k + bonus opportunities
• 100% medical + vision and dental coverage
• 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match
• Short-term + long-term disability
• Annual investment in learning & development
• Trade accounts with winery + local restaurants after 1st year
• Colorado Gives Day donation matching
• Annual company ski trip to Steamboat Springs
• Beer & nitro coffee on tap (but ya gotta be willing to “Beer Sherpa“ occasionally)
how to apply.
The usual: Send a cover letter and your resume to Isaac Bartholomew (). Bonus points for including a GIF or meme that effectively captures who you are or what you're into (as long as it's mostly SFW).
The finer print
Here are a few other shenanigans to look forward to as part of the Bonfire crew:
• Having deep intellectual conversations around Excel formulas
• Starting a fire with a single match
• Liking (or learning to like) bikes - of either the fossil fuel or pedaling variety
• Not being afraid to light something on fire (safely and legally)
• Playing at least one game of pinball blindfolded
• Being able to work under fire (not literal fire the NERF dart kind)

Our Engineering team is searching for their future Senior Java Developer who is a critical thinker, fast learner, and SQL natural who enjoys being a problem solver. The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for implementing new features, fixing bugs, and improving and refactoring code. Most of what you will do is web-related, so many tasks will ask you to implement REST endpoints to help... achieve business objectives and connect the dots on the web. However, much of the team’s tasks are also not strictly web-related and may challenge you in other ways (e.g. data analytics, network communication, database optimization, etc.). Bonfire is looking for an Events Program Manager to help us strengthen our studio culture through internal gatherings and build partner and player relationships through external-facing events. In this role, you’ll design and execute quarterly offsites for the distributed members of our entire studio to gather, strengthen relationships, and collaborate on game and studio initiatives. You’ll also... collaborate with sub-teams on the design and execution of smaller gatherings, events, and workshops as needed. You’ll partner with our development and publishing teams to design and execute events for press, prospective players, and prospective Bonfire developers.
Bonfire Studios is a highly collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment where every developer’s voice shapes the company, the game, and the tasks we work on each day. We aspire to build warm, welcoming communities where legendary experiences can be shared, and that begins with our internal developer community of “campers”. As we prepare for the launch of our first game, that community extends to our partners and the public. As an Events Program Manager at Bonfire, you will have the opportunity to help shape those amazing experiences for our campers, partners, press, and players.
About the role...
• You will inspire us to strengthen our culture, camper relationships, and overall camper experience through the studio offsites you strategically design and execute.
• You will spark excitement and enthusiasm from partners, press, and players through the external facing events you strategically design and execute.
• You’ll oversee and manage the logistics and execution of a variety of programming including, but not limited to: presentations, developer working sessions, happy hours, dinners, educational excursions, curriculum sessions, game demos, recruiting events, press days, and participation in conferences and conventions.
• You will work with internal stakeholders, including game and studio leadership teams, to ensure the needs of each program are met.
• You’ll oversee the feedback process for each program and apply learnings to future gatherings.
• You'll wear many hats, have ample opportunity to utilize your prior experience cultivating inclusive and impactful team and game community experiences, and also be supported in experimenting with new areas of interest to you.
• Your ultimate impact on the studio will be unbounded; we lean on each other's passions and embrace one another's unique perspectives on game development to help us all grow as a team together. You will have many opportunities to contribute to areas of the company outside your core focus.
We're excited about you because you...
• Believe, as we do, that great games are the product of great teams that put their people first.
• Strategically approach event design and architecting people experiences to serve the needs of the team while utilizing your detail-oriented organizational skills to execute that vision
• Can tap into your knowledge and experience with a variety of venues, activities, and formats that will inspire and positively influence Bonfire culture in ways we haven’t anticipated
• Embrace a hybrid work environment and are excited to innovate inclusive designs for virtual and in-person event participation
• Are a creative problem solver and independent thinker who is comfortable driving vendor partnerships
• Want to have a large impact while collaborating with other talented developers in a tight knit AAA studio, rolling up your sleeves and using your passions and interests to shape your role at the company.
• Thrive on collaboration and communicate well with developers of all disciplines.
• Are open, humble, eager, and excited about learning and contributing in multiple areas of the studio. Your curiosity propels you to jump in and dive deep on new problems.
• Value building trust with the people you work with.
• Value working with a diverse team and welcome different perspectives.
• Have a growth mindset and also care about helping others develop.
• Are as passionate about the creative process and developing games as we are!
You'll love working at Bonfire because we...
• Have strong values that include transparency, ownership, and trust. We are a people-first studio that also strives for a high bar of excellence in our creations.
• Celebrate craft expertise because we are a small, tight-knit group of highly experienced game developers who are as passionate about our team as we are our game.
• Offer opportunities to learn and contribute beyond your focused discipline in areas of interest or passion.
• Practice candor and feedback, leveling ourselves and each other up in the process.
• Play games and have fun together, kindling our own love for games and learning about each other.
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $236,667. The range doesn't tell the whole story - we are always open to candidates at different stages in their careers and consider candidates' potential impact holistically, not just their years of experience or skill level. There is also more to our total comp package than salary, we offer equity to every new hire as well as a comprehensive benefits package and more. We will be happy to share more about our compensation opportunities when we chat with you!
