Monitors, answers and/or replies to telephone, radio and written requests from internal/external law enforcement agencies, court officials and the general public regarding arrest warrants, injunctions, and civil process.

Performs data entry and updates of court issued criminal or civil warrants and injunctions in agency and FCIC/NCIC databases, ensuring information is accurate and complete.

Distributes and recalls court issued criminal and civil documents to and from agency units, precincts and/or other law enforcement and court agencies/officials.

Files court issued criminal and civil documents in accordance with agency procedures.

Makes transportation arrangements.

Ensures service affidavits are accurately completed and returned in a timely manner.

Performs routine office tasks such as preparing routine reports, typing, filing, faxing, telephoning, operating radio and photocopying.

Monitors Teletype. Enters and retrieves criminal and investigative information through FCIC/NCIC Criminal Justice Information Systems.

Maintains various logs, charts, maps, repair logs, wrecker logs and recordings to provide records of all non-emergency actions for follow-up investigative, administrative or legal action.

Operates/maintains non-emergency equipment such as computers, printers, playback systems, CAD and other systems.

Performs other tasks as directedThe entry level Judicial Technician I classification requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have basic computer skills to include various data base systems.
• Ability to enter data on computers with accuracy.
• Ability to learn and understand, supporting documentation to include; arrest warrants, injunctions and civil process.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
• Ability to multi task.
• Law Enforcement or judicial/court services experience preferred.
• NCIC/FCIC certified within six months of employment.
• Must pass a BCSO typing test with 35 wpm, applications will not be referred to the hiring department until the typing test requirement is met.

Employees are required to be flexible and must be available to work all shifts during training to include days, nights, weekends, holidays and during natural disasters. A shift will be assigned after successful completion of training which last 12 weeks. shifts are 2:00pm - 10:00pm or 10:00pm to 6:00am with one weekend day of work.

Part time work schedule: 28 hours per week, eight (8) hour shifts, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm or Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 4:00pm - midnight. Available to work holidays and during natural disasters.
BCSO is open to discuss schedule with Part Time position, per applicants flexibility and operational needs of agency.

During an emergency, the Sheriff will determine who is considered an emergency responder and whose work is necessary to maintain the operation of law enforcement and correctional facilities. This determination is subject to change based on staffing and the operational needs of the agency.

Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph, reference/employment/neighborhood checks. submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming position and will be subject to return to duty, post-accident and/or random and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed with BCSO.
