Position Summary and Objectives
• Conduct a range of trade specific inspections on commercial and residential buildings as well as manage specific projects related to these types of code inspections. Travel within the assigned area will be required for inspections and/or managing assigned projects. Company vehicle and fuel card may be available.
Essential Functions
• Combination Code Inspections and/or Quality Control inspections as required by the International Codes.
• Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction
• Explain and interpret code and/or quality control regulations or requirements
• Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations
• Maintain effective customer service relationship with clients and the public
• Assist the inspection management team with business development
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager
Education and Experience
High School Diploma (Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred), with 2 or more years of experience performing field inspections on construction related projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Requirements include:
• ICC Commercial/Residential certifications/license (multiple disciplines) as required.
• State of Texas Plumbing Inspector license
• Experience in QA/QC, and managing projects
• Current valid driver license
• Excellent customer service/problem solving skills
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
• Some office work, mostly field inspections with full exposure to the elements on projects controlled by OSHA.

The Residential Inspector will perform technical building inspections to enforce compliance with building codes, regulations and ordinances. This position reports to the Florida Business Unit Manager and is subject to annual performance evaluations. This inspector will cover the Central Florida region which includes Orange, Lake, Polk, Osceola, Seminole, Marion and Sumter Counties in the interior, Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco Counties on the west coast, and Brevard County on the east coast.
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Provide exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating a willingness to be attentive, understanding, and responsive, fair, courteous, as well as respectful, and to actively participate in maintaining a positive customer service environment
• Inspect commercial, industrial and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations. Inspections include foundation, concrete, steel, masonry, wood construction, framing, plastering, plumbing, heating and electrical installations and a large variety of other complex and routine building system elements. Depending on specific assignment, inspectors may also issue notices for violation upon failed inspections and may be responsible for approving the issuance of building permits.
• Examine plans and specifications of new construction, additions and alterations to residential, commercial and industrial buildings to determine compliance with the provisions of applicable construction codes, ordinances and regulations.
• Respond to code related questions from developers, builders, contractors, and/or property owners.
• Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the public in the field and office; explain and interpret building requirements and restrictions
• Read, research, and objectively explain and interpret building code requirements along with other laws pertaining to regulation of buildings, and tactfully communicate, orally and in writing, with staff and/or clients, while maintaining effective relationships
• Maintain files and reports regarding inspection and/or plan review activities and findings
• Attend and participate in meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of building inspection
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements:
• Florida State Residential Inspector License
• Maintenance of a valid Florida Driver’s License
• Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and the International Code Council.
Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of general office equipment- copier/fax/scanner, phone
• Must be able to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
• High energy level and able to work in a fast paced environment
Computer Skills:
Basic knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, document and database software (MS Office, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat). Knowledge of Building Permitting and Plan Review software such as Accela, TrakIt, Amanda, BlueBeam, OnBase, etc… is preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work outdoors and will be exposed to dust and noise. The employee will need to sit, stand, walk, or climb (ladders, etc...) for long periods of time. The employee will need to be able to see details of objects and distinguish between colors and shapes. The employee will need to coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving. The employee must be able to hear sounds, recognize the difference between sounds, and determine from which direction a sound came. At times, it might be necessary to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. The employee will be required to remain alert at all times.
Pay Range:
The base pay for this position is $70,000 annually. Additional increases are calculated based on experience and the number of active DBPR Licenses. Bureau Veritas also offers an attractive benefit package, including company vehicle.

Job Description: East Area Manager - Florida
Reports to: Florida Business Unit Manager
Purpose of Position/ Function:
Working under the direction of the Business Unit Manager, is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing the activities of inspection and plan review services staff within a regional service area, managing relationships with key clients (existing and targeted opportunities) in support of annual business plan for the business line and promoting BV within the code compliance community to achieve organic growth objectives.
East Florida region includes: Volusia, Flagler, and St. Johns Counties
Responsibilities and Duties:
Operational:
· Within a specific regional service area plans, assigns, directs, reviews, and evaluates the work of inspectors and plan examiners engaged in inspection and plan review duties.
· Maintains open communications to inspectors and plan examiners within regional service area on important Company updates, status, and information and industry codes.
· Establish schedule for meeting on a regular basis with inspectors, plan examiners, and key clients to review performance and to identify additional business opportunities
· Assists the Florida Business Unit Manager to evaluate recruitment needs and actively recruits inspector and plan examiner candidates.
· Coordinates training programs with the Florida Business Unit Manager and other area inspection managers to keep inspectors and plan examiners current on education and training.
· Works with Florida Business Unit Manager on inspector and plan examiner performance and disciplinary issues.
· Writes performance evaluations and conducts performance meetings with inspectors and plan examiners to provide feedback on an annual basis.
· Works with the Florida Business Unit Manager when new hires come on board. Assists with new hire paperwork collection, equipment assignment, etc.
· Provides leadership and builds positive team chemistry on Company projects.
· Performs on-site inspections and plan reviews evaluations of construction projects
· Assists and advises clients, inspectors, and plans examiners in matters relating to residential and commercial construction and code requirements.
· Independently recognizes, evaluates and properly resolves unique problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.
· Manages and approves regional inspection / plan review team’s workload and schedules including timesheet and expense report approval.
Performance Metrics:
· Develop quarterly meeting schedule and provide quarterly summary on all meetings in a timely manner.
· Meet with each inspector and plan examiner within regional service area on a monthly basis and visit all agencies within regional service area at least quarterly to identify future opportunities.
· Identify and maintain minimum of 3 active business opportunities, and develop a commercial action plan in conjunction with Florida Business Unit Manager and the marketing staff and executes plan providing regular feedback.
Job Qualifications and Education:
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education or experience normally equivalent to;
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent, preferably supplemented by additional training in building inspection, structural engineering, or a related field. An Associate Degree in engineering, architecture, building inspection, or related field, or equivalent ICC certification level is a plus.
Experience: at least seven (7) years experience as a building inspector, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
· Florida Standard Inspector and Plan Examiner certifications and/or CBO certification preferred.
· Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes, building inspection methods and techniques, construction materials, methods and techniques, principals of supervision, administration and management.
· Thorough knowledge of the industry and established relations with client contracts.
· Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work well with people.
· Positive attitude towards Company and clients.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
· Proficient with computer programs
· Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
Pay Range:
The base pay for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 annually with a 10% Bonus. Additional increases are calculated based on experience and the number of active DBPR Licenses. Bureau Veritas also offers an attractive benefits package, including a company vehicle.
