DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching and hand/arm motions as the product is identified, wrapped, priced and weighed.
• Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials and meat products.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Provide outstanding customer service. Communicate with and assist customers in selection of product.
• Identify, wrap, price, and weigh all meat department items in accordance with specified procedures outlined by standard practice.
• Stock the fresh, frozen, and self-service cases using proper rotation procedures.
• Assist meat cutters by scraping and traying products, cubing steaks, and grinding ground meats.
• Receive any meat delivery, code, rotate, and put in appropriate storage area.
• Wash, rinse and sanitize all cases, wrap stations/area, scaling equipment, cooler, cutting room, including disassembling and re-assembling equipment therein.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

• Familiarization with all departmental rules and regulations as they pertain to the position of Police Officer. Attend classes, participate in department training exercises, and study department materials to acquire and advance job knowledge and skills.
• Conduct criminal, motor vehicle and other investigations by securing areas, gathering and preserving evidence, interviewing complainants, victims, witnesses and others involved, taking field notes, collecting photographs, finger prints, affidavits, etc. Prepare affidavits, reports and court cases and present testimony in court for the above. Patrol specific districts on foot, bicycle or in a police vehicle. Assist in investigating suspicious activities and persons; make arrests for violations of state laws and city ordinances. Respond to emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents, crimes in progress, etc. Respond to complaints; investigate and attempt to mediate conflicts.
• Investigate traffic accidents, aid injured persons, determine if any criminal offenses have been committed and write appropriate reports. Class Definition

Correctional Officer I jobs are with the Department of Corrections at various locations throughout the state. Vacancies may occur in Burlington, Rutland, St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, Newport, and Springfield.

Incumbents in this class are responsible for the supervision, custody, treatment, and training of inmates confined in a correctional facility. Duties are performed under the supervision of higher-ranking staff and in accordance with operational procedures of the assigned facility. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strength-based relationships and results orientation.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely within a correctional facility and in the immediate area of inmates. High stress situations are predictable, even frequent. The potential of physical assault or injury is present. Transportation and supervision of inmates outside of the correctional facility may be required. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is necessary. Overtime and emergency duty are unpredictable. Shift assignments may change in accordance with the needs of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years or more full-time work experience.

OR

One (1) year or more of college level course work AND one (1) year or more of full-time work experience.

OR

Two (2) years or more of college level course work.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

Adequate physical condition to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. As a Correctional Officer it is important to understand that one of the essential tasks associated with the job is the ability to don a self-contained breathing apparatus and perform evacuation procedures, potentially including search and rescue functions. • Home office required
• Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY)/remote travel ranging from 14 – 30 days away from home per TDY may be required
• Must reside within the stated mileage requirement posted in job description
• A valid driver's license and full time usage of reliable transportation are required. Driving is an essential function of the job and Motor Vehicle Records may be checked as part of the hiring process or at any time during employment
• Required to carry sufficient motor vehicle insurance
• Accurate and efficient typing capabilities (40+ WPM recommended) and ability to work within multiple computer programs concurrently
• Must be able to speak for extended periods of time and hear sufficiently to communicate in person and over the phone; record, read and transcribe words and numbers with a high degree of accuracy
• Proficient grammar and writing skills in order to submit high quality reports with minimal or no errors
• Must be able to interact professionally with others, to write for long periods of time, meet expectations for attendance and punctuality, and able to pay attention to details while conducting fieldwork
• Maintain high level of confidentiality ethics and integrity
• Professional attire required
• Must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, endure long periods of standing and drive in adverse and/or night conditions

• Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment under remote supervision
• Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills
