Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Calendar Supervisor. This position could be based in Los Angeles; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; and Seattle office.
The Role: As the West Coast Calendar Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in our Court Services Department, overseeing the daily operations of the West Coast Calendar Department. You will lead a team of Calendar Specialists responsible for supporting our California, Portland, and Seattle offices on federal and state procedural matters, as well as managing litigation calendars locally. You will verify the calculation of procedural deadlines, oversee the entry of dates in the calendar software, review court filings and litigation documents, and provide valuable insights into civil and court procedures.
What responsibilities will you have?
Team Leadership: Supervise and guide a team of Calendar Specialists, providing direction, training, and prioritizing their tasks.
Calendar Management: Oversee the entry of litigation deadlines into Compulaw, our firm-wide calendaring system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in calendaring practices.
Communication: Act as a resource for attorneys and case teams, answering questions about court calendaring, civil procedures, and judges' rules using online resources.
Legal Research: Conduct research on court rules, civil procedures, and case histories as necessary.
Filing Compliance: Review court filings for compliance with procedural rules and the firm's best practices.
Court Services Support: Assist with Court Services orientation for attorneys and staff, oversee paper and electronic court filings, and act as a liaison between attorneys and courts.
Outside Services Management: Manage the utilization of outside services to meet deadlines and seek competitive bids for services like process servers and couriers.
Memberships: Assist with applications for court memberships, including pro hac vice admission, and coordinate payment of filing fees, bar dues, and association memberships.
Process Improvement: Assist with change management efforts to enhance calendaring and docketing procedures.
Team Development: Provide regular performance feedback to your team.
Collaboration: Coordinate with the Managing Attorney’s Offices in NY and DC to ensure consistent Court Services Department operations.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of three years of similar related experience in legal calendaring and court procedures.
• Strong knowledge of California civil court procedures and rules, as well as familiarity with e-filing requirements and procedures.
• Proficiency with Aderant-Compulaw or a compatible database.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload and interact effectively with personnel at all levels.

Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is:
• California Major Markets* $76,900 - $133,250
• National $71,750 - $92,250
• California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.
Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
