About the Position:

College and Program Development generates financial support for Cal
State Fullerton, benefiting each of the eight colleges, Student
Affairs, Titan Athletics, Fullerton Arboretum and the Pollak
Library. We are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team as
the Senior Director of Development, College of the Arts
(Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a
positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership
style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a
commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and
kindness.

The Senior Director of Development will plan, manage, and direct
all development programs for the College of the Arts (COTA), in
concert with University Advancement. This will include planning of
cultivation strategies and solicitation of major gifts of $25,000
and above. Represents the priorities of the college to corporate
and foundation leaders, key alumni and friends of the college.
Responsible for planning selected strategic cultivation events to
support fundraising initiatives and also works directly with the
leadership of several support groups in the planning and execution
of fundraising events that support COTA students, projects and
programs. Requires a track record of soliciting and closing major
and diverse gifts, a demonstrated ability in creating corporate
partnerships, and familiarity with the Orange County and Southern
California arts communities. Communicates information about planned
giving opportunities to select donors, and partners with
specialists in the facilitation of planned giving agreements.
Partners with the other areas of University Advancement in the
solicitation of corporate, foundation and planned gifts. Experience
with capital and/or comprehensive campaign fundraising is highly
desirable. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year College or
University required, Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of five
years direct major gift fundraising experience. Experience managing
a staff. Experience with capital and/or comprehensive campaign with
a primary focus on cultivation/solicitation of large gifts.
Experience in cultivating a prospect and closing major gifts -
including individuals, corporations, and foundations. Experience
working with volunteer boards and other volunteers who may assist
in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts.
Ability to work with teams of faculty, staff and students.
Experience in coordinating events for cultivation. Experience in
creating a strategic approach to development with assessment built
in to determine progress and success. Experience in making frequent
on- and off-site presentations to individuals and corporate
leaders. Willingness to spend time outside the office environment
in order to interact with relevant individuals and groups who are
instrumental in the development process. Understanding of
university culture and corporate philanthropy. Dynamic,
self-motivated, and goal oriented.

Under general direction of the Associate Director for Counseling and Psychological Services, the selected candidate will work directly with students through individual consultations, group presentations, workshops and trainings, and through leadership of peer educator program (40%); design, implement, and evaluate Mental Health Education programs based on health education and student development theories (20%); collaborate with campus and community-based organizations (10%); and provide direct outreach and marketing of CAPS services (15%) and other duties as assigned (5%).

This position is a 12 month, Monday-Thursday, 9-6pm and Friday 8-5pm position (with occasional weekend hours). Successful candidates will have a Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in psychology or social work from an accredited university, and have expertise in addressing the mental health and welfare, as well as the educational and academic achievement needs of a diverse college student population. Position
Peer Program Coordination : Help coordinate the Mental Wellness Peer Educator Program; provides guidance and leadership to peer coaches; planning and promotion of events, maintaining records and scheduling of coaching sessions.

Substance Abuse Coordinator : The Substance Abuse Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide individual and group psychotherapy to CSUF students, consultation to faculty and staff, and supervision and oversight of CSUF’s substance abuse programs. Provide direct clinical services which support students presenting with alcohol and other drug concerns; including, but not limited to individual counseling, group therapy, outreach, consultation, AOD screenings, etc. Conduct formal and informal mental health programming and outreach for campus community. Assist in the development of referral sources for students who require off-campus mental health and AOD services. Develop and help maintain interventions and educational programs for students with disciplinary referrals.

Supervision of students : Coordinate recruitment of students functioning as peer wellness coaches; offers training and supervision to peer wellness coaches; note: students who serve as wellness coaches complete an extensive training and participate in regular, ongoing supervision and training on special topics for coaching.

Supervision and Training of mental health graduate students : Provide clinical supervision to CAPS’ trainees; co-facilitate outreach programs and groups with all levels of supervisees; provide periodic training and educational seminars for all levels of supervisees.

Direct Counseling Services : Provide intake clinical interviews and psycho- diagnostic assessments, short-term individual and couples counseling, group counseling and psycho-educational groups, clinical triage and crisis intervention, case management and collaboration with a consulting psychiatrist, and referrals to and consultation with academic and disability counselors and health center professionals on-campus as well as off-campus mental health professionals and agencies.

CAPS Mental Health Ally Program : Help operate a educational programs designed for staff and faculty to help promote best mental health practices among lay staff.

Assessment : Coordinate and carry out formal assessment of programming- may conduct studies and surveys to determine priority needs and effective methods for producing programs to meet the campus’ needs.

Health Education Outreach Services : Develop educational programs designed to stimulate participation in health education programs using a wide range of media, including educational technologies and the development of audio-visual materials for behavioral health programming.

Social Media and Marketing : Help with CAPS’ social media accounts. Also help with creating new strategic ways to outreach to students in this digital age.

Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree of Psychology or Social Work from an accredited university.
• California license to practice as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC.
• Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and ability to work with students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement outreach presentations and workshops on mental health topics and to provide consultation and preventive education.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct intake interviews, including psycho-diagnostic assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment plan formulation, for students with a broad spectrum of psychological problems, ranging from adjustment issues to major psychiatric disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention for psychological emergencies.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring
semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in
mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January
through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are
needed during one of the Summer Session segments.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY

All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the
terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system
and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are
for one semester only.

Classification Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per month

Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed
$5,405 per month.

The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries
indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are
paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a
three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from
$5,436 to $6,486 per semester.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by
the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining
Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These
performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained
for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some
instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be
reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.

Performing Arts Center, Cal State Fullerton Athletics sports
