Global Order and Institutions Program [Global Economic Governance Project] ...
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a global network of policy research centers, is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to support the Global Order and Institutions Program's Global Economic Governance Project. This position is expected to last until the end of August 2023, and the research assistant will work up to 18 hours per week.
The Global Economic Governance project seeks to identify new multilateral rules and frameworks for a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable world economy, at a moment when existing institutions are buffeted by geopolitical upheaval, anti-globalization sentiments, rapid technological change, and transnational threats like climate change and pandemic disease. We will assess possibilities for updating the mandates, governance structures, and operations of major international organizations so that they are fit for purpose in this crisis-prone world. This research agenda will include potential reforms to the main multilateral bodies involved in global development, finance, trade, and related spheres, among them the World Bank, IMF, WTO, and relevant UN agencies.
The Research Assistant will conduct background research for Carnegie papers and reports, assist in the drafting (as well as co-author) articles and op-eds, help organize and coordinate events and meetings, engage with government officials, policymakers, experts and civil society interlocutors, and other duties as assigned by the program.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in social science or political/international affairs with research experience. An advanced understanding of multilateral institutions and international political economy is required. Applicants must be self-starters with excellent attention to detail, be able to work independently, adapt quickly and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
To apply, please submit your resume/C.V., cover letter, and a one-page writing sample via the Carnegie Endowment website.
