The purpose of this position is to maintain the integrity of City buildings by providing necessary maintenance services for the buildings. This is accomplished by making repairs and performing preventative maintenance. Other duties include installation, modification, repair, ensuring efficient operations of facility systems, performing carpentry duties, collecting recycle from each department... and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This is a part time position, expected to work approximately 20 hours per week.
• Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensures efficient operations of facility systems by checking and servicing systems, changing air conditioner filters, performing preventative maintenance, changing filters, cleaning units and inspecting systems.
• Services electrical systems by repairing switches, plugs, equipment control, circuit breakers and faulty wiring, running pipe or conduit for various reasons such as feeding telephone or computer cables and setting up new electrical circuits when needed.
• Performs carpentry duties by painting and plastering walls, repairing doors, wallpaper and sheetrock. Maintains the grounds in and around the Government Center and handles the flag poles, etc. Assist in room setup and breakdown.
• Maintains lighting services by changing bulbs and replacing defective parts such as conventional and electronic ballast, photo cells, timer and switches, sockets and wiring. Assist in delivering packaging and other duties assign.
• Administers general repairs by providing repair services such as door and window, leaks, roofing, painting, carpentry, sheetrock repairs, tool and equipment repairs and cabinet and counter repairs.
• Administers plumbing repairs by fixing leaks in faucets, valves and water fountains, clearing drains such as sinks, toilets and mains and repairing fixtures.
• Assists custodial staff with janitorial duties, as needed.
• Regular attendance required.
• Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
• At least one year of related experience required.
• Valid Texas Driver's License (Class C).
