The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a
Director of Advising. This role reports to the Executive Director
of Student Affairs and Academic Services. The Director is expected
to work collaboratively and in accordance with The Citadel's

campus-wide advising services. The Director is also expected to
assist in developing and implementing a strategic plan for
campus-wide advising services for all students. In addition, the
Director will assist in coordinating the assessment and evaluation
of the QEP and campus-wide advising services and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Programming, Administration, and
Leadership:
• Designs, implements, assesses, and evaluates advising services
initiatives for current and prospective students that include
academic support services and guidance, the development of
educational plans, exploration and assessment, and career
planning.
• Collaborates with college administrators to assist in unifying
a wide array of campus-wide advising services and initiatives.
• In partnership with the Academic Advising and Retention Council
(AARC), the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) staff, and other
stakeholders, develops and implements comprehensive advising
services that have clearly outlined program objectives, action
plans, proactive advising campaigns, and assessment
strategies.
• Works with Information Technology Services (ITS) to assess,
evaluate, secure, and implement appropriate equipment, software
programs, support, and services that assist in the identification
of students with advising needs and helps deliver effective
advising services.
• Assists with the coordination of planning and implementation of
student success programs.

Advising Responsibilities:
• Provides and coordinates training and support, in cooperation
with CEITL&DE, for all faculty and staff advisors
campus-wide.
• Helps develop, coordinate, and leads the implementation of a
student course registration strategy, to include training and
cohort assignments.
• Assists with course registration.
• Maintains student records and data security and accurately
documents student interactions in advising management system in
accordance with FERPA and The Citadel policies.

Assessment:
• Helps implement annual student surveys to collect information
on students' experiences related to advising.
• Assists in developing and implementing the QEP assessment plan
and other campus advising initiatives.
• Writes and submits annual reports, to include QEP reports,
relating to assessment and evaluation of advising and student
success programs, services, and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university and a
record of progressive academic leadership experience in higher
education.
• Higher education experience in advising and/or related academic
support and student success programs.
• Demonstrated ability and/or experience working collaboratively
across departments and organizational structures with students,
faculty, staff, administration, and co-workers from a wide range of
abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.
• Available to work non-traditional hours, e.g., evenings and
weekends, as required to fulfill responsibilities of the
position.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the development of advising programs and related
initiatives, such as retention, informed by NACADA and CAS
Standards for Advising.
• Strong understanding of and demonstrated experience utilizing
student development theories.
• Demonstrated experience with Student Information Systems (e.g.,

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma and four(4) years of experience in
mechanical trades field or four years in the Mechanical/Electrical
trades area. Must be certified in Refrigerant Transition &
Recovery.

Knowledge required in the operation and maintenance of: industrial
rotary screw, centrifugal and ice storage, chilled water systems
ranging from 100 to 350 tons; hot water and steam heating systems;
commercial and residential refrigerant, split air conditioning
systems, gas package unit heaters and heat pumps ranging from 1.5
to 120 tons; residential gas appliances; refrigerant equipment, and
other auxiliary equipment including but not limited to commercial
galley and kitchen equipment. Must be capable of: reading blue
prints, drawings, and electrical schematics and be able to
demonstrate a proficiency at brazing and soldering of piping and
tubing. Must understand and repair chemical feed pumps. Take water
sample of PH levels. Add chemical as needed. Have open
communication skills. Continuing education of CFC refrigerants and
future alternatives and safety standard.

Work independently or as a team, with limited supervision, using
oral or written instructions. Work conditions subject to 24 hour
emergency callout on evenings, weekends, and holidays, including
extreme weather and climatic conditions of humidity, heat and cold.
Must be capable of: repetitively lifting objects weighing 50 pounds
to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet; working off
roofs, scaffolds, ladders and platforms at high elevations up to
100 feet off of the ground.

Department of Political Science at the Visiting Professor or
Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2023.

The Citadel is a state-supported coeducational military college in
historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. We are committed to
excellence in teaching with the expectation that faculty engage in
consistent research and publication. The department offers a B.A.
in Political Science with three subfields: American Government,
International Politics and Military Affairs, and pre-Law and Legal
Studies. The Department is home to approximately 140 undergraduate
majors. In addition, the Department of Political Science offers a
Master of Arts program in International Politics & Military
Affairs and graduate courses related to a Master of Arts program in
Social Science. The normal teaching load for a tenure-track
professor is four courses each semester.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. is preferred, but ABD eligible candidates who will finish
their dissertation by August 2023 will be considered. Expertise in
American Government is required. Undergraduate teaching
responsibilities include American Government, State and Local
Government, the Presidency, Public Opinion, and Research Methods.
An interest in research and teaching in southern politics is also
welcomed.

Management

The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, invites
applicants for a nine-month, tenure-track position in the
Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP), at the rank of
Assistant Professor beginning as early as fall 2023. Located in
beautiful and historic Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel is a
fully accredited, public, comprehensive, co-educational college
with a student body of about 2,300 undergraduate students who make
up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and another 1,000 students
who attend The Citadel Graduate College, a civilian evening and
online program that offers graduate and professional degrees as
well as undergraduate programs. For the past twelve years, U.S.
News and World Report has ranked The Citadel as the top public
college in the South among master's-granting institutions.

One of seven departments in the Swain Family School of Science and
Mathematics, the Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP)
offers the Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Sport
Management. The B.S. Sport Management is offered as a day program
to the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and the M.A. Sport Management
as an evening program. The Citadel supports faculty research,
professional development, and travel through internal funding.
Salary and fringe benefits are competitive.

Position Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities at undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate
(M.A.) levels may include Intro to Sport Management, Sport Finance,
Sport Facility and Risk Management, Sport Sociology, and Research
Method. A normal teaching load is twelve credit hours per week with
small class size (The Citadel's student -to-faculty ratio is 12:1
and the average undergraduate class size is 20). Other
responsibilities include mentoring students through advising and
undergraduate research, participating in curriculum revision,
creating new courses, and faculty governance. The candidate is
expected to achieve and maintain scholarly productivity consistent
with departmental and college-wide policy for tenure and promotion.
Service will include advising and mentoring undergraduate and
graduate students, serving on departmental, school, and/or
college-wide committees, and assisting with the development of
industry partnerships and internship sites.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Sport
Management or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior teaching experience and excellence commensurate with the
position rank being sought; evidence of mentoring and engaging
undergraduate in research; a record of scholarly publications
commensurate with the position rank being sought; experience
developing a new course and curriculum.

Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites
applications for the position of Company TAC Officer in the
Commandant's Office. The Company TAC Officer duties will
include:
• Provide direct supervision of Cadets in the performance of
their duties
• Develop principled leaders through role-modeling, counseling,
teaching, and discipline
• Train and coach the cadet chain of command.

The expected start date for this position is July 1,
2023.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have a Master's Degree (or be willing to earn one through
the Citadel's Tuition Waiver Program within 3 years of start
date).
• Must have at least six years of military service or
equivalent.
• Must currently be serving as or retired/discharged in the grade
of O-3 thru O-5 or E-8 to E-9 or equivalent leadership
experience.
• Must have knowledge of military organizations, leadership,
training, discipline, physical fitness, and drill and
ceremonies.
• Must possess the ability and desire to mentor, advise, coach,
teach, train, and counsel college student leaders in a military
college environment; and one must possess and maintain a level of
physical conditioning that would allow participation with cadets
during physical training.
