Greater Cleveland has one of the most vibrant and respected arts and culture scenes in the country and is home to the the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Playhouse Square theater and performing arts district, the Cleveland Orchestra, the... Cleveland Museum of Art and many other arts-and-culture groups. We are looking for innovative and creative thinkers who can put their stamp on our coverage of this world-class entertainment scene and, in particularly be our primary reporter/critic covering popular music in its many forms – concerts, recordings, streaming and more. Additionally, are looking for someone interested in reporting on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and its many activities in Northeast Ohio and beyond, from its annual inductions to exhibitions to Cleveland-area programming and more.

In addition to arts and entertainment, this writer would work as part of a team that covers Greater Cleveland’s burgeoning restaurant and foodie scene, telling stories about the places and the people who make it one of the most interesting food towns in the country. The writer will also help produce and curate a weekly going-out guide for a large Ohio audience that is distributed via the web, newsletters and print. And there will be opportunities to explore pop-culture stories, too — movies, TV and more.

This will be a fast-paced beat in a dynamic newsroom. Cleveland.com, Advance Ohio is one of the largest news publications in Ohio. We thrive on delivering news to readers wherever they are quickly as well as deep-dive investigative reporting projects. We are looking for creative thinkers willing to do innovative storytelling on multiple platforms, including web-based storytelling, podcasting, video, photography and social media. The entertainment reporter will also have the opportunity to host or work in conjunction with others to develop events in the arts, culture and dining realms.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred
• Proven talent in journalism reporting and writing
• Experience building, maintaining, and engaging an active audience
• Ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately
• Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics, and story structure
• Demonstrated capability in capitalizing on high-value topics by engaging audiences in frequency and urgency
• Mastery of social media and digital interaction
• Skills for utilizing a broad set of tools to tell stories and engage the audience
