A Temporary Instructor provides a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis. Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaching and departmental/college service expected.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments and the School of Engineering. The College serves more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 27 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Duties include teaching day/evening, undergraduate classes in computer science in hybrid formats. The successful candidate will work with students in and out of the classroom. Other responsibilities will include serving on departmental committees.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Teaching and departmental service are expected. The successful candidate must have an earned master’s degree in computer science, or a closely related field awarded by a regionally accredited institution.

Experience Preferred:

The candidate must have an earned master’s degree in computer science, or a closely related field awarded by a regionally accredited institution by the time of employment. Previous industrial experience and U.S. college teaching experience are preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

All areas of study in computer science will be considered. Ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff members is necessary. Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.

SCHOOL: The School of Computer Science and Information Systems has approximately 270 undergraduate majors, 200 graduate students and 18 full-time faculty members with seven comprehensive undergraduate programs: Business Education, Business Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science with an emphasis in Computer Science, Digital Media – Computer Science, and Management Information Systems.
