We are hiring an HR Services and Transitions Center Counselor to join our team!
What you’ll do as HR Services and Transitions Center Counselor:
• Serve as a case manager and deliver primary customer care and exceptional service to all members of the Cornell Community, as appropriate, on matters related to onboarding, life/career changes, separation/retirement and the continued connection to Cornell’s active and retiree programs and benefit plans/programs.
• Evaluate and understand the presenting question or concern and any ancillary issues, and own the resolution and follow-through from start to finish.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts as needed to ensure all relevant information is understood and available.
• Manage follow-up to achieve closure for the customer.
• Exercise independent judgment, analyze case problems, and be responsible for accurate communication and decisions made based on policies, guidelines, rules, and office protocols.
• Appropriately communicate decisions to affected parties.
• Leverage your attention to detail to avoid inaccuracies or poorly made decisions, which can cost a faculty or staff member a considerable amount of personal income or assets and can potentially place the University at risk of non-compliance.
• Collaborate with colleagues to review and recommend changes to ensure efficient, accurate, and clear communications (web and printed), as well as processes and programs.
• Contribute to Workday configuration discussions to address issues and continuous review of existing and/or new functionality to ensure it supports the desired processes and outcomes.
• Constantly communicate and coordinate actions and communication with colleagues to continually evaluate, develop and deliver creative, timely, and quality services to clients.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 2 years of experience in HR Operations, Employee Benefits, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Exceptional customer service commitment and proven success in consistently delivering outstanding service and ensuring information provided are clear and accurate.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion while dealing with highly sensitive and sometimes emotional situations.
• Demonstrated success working collaboratively as well as independently, exercising outstanding judgment in all situations.
• Self-starter that has strong follow-through.
• Superb listening and effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to work collaboratively in a busy office that is focused on customer service activity.
• Proven ability to work with confidential information.
• Experience working with spreadsheets, running reports, monitoring activities, and following through.
• Ability to analyze data and make recommendations to enhance service to customers and to the department.
Preferred Qualifications
• CEBS or other HR certification
• Notary Public or willing to become commissioned as a Notary
• Experience using Workday and understanding of related Cornell HR policies and procedures.

The Director of Strategic Business Operations of the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability serves as a strategic, practical, and results-driven leader in partnership with the director. Serves as the director of operations and the strategic finance director of the center, and also serves as head of staff development as the center’s liaison with Research Division Human Resources. Oversees all aspects of the center’s day-to-day operations, including research grants and other programs, finance, budget, information systems, human resources, and facilities, maintaining a high functioning organization and a culture of continuous improvement. Advises and partners with the Director to implement the center’s strategic plan.
The successful candidate will have strong people leadership skills, with an approachable style, excellent intuition and judgment, supervisory, managerial, organizational, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills. The ability to attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance; widely viewed as a strong developer of others.
Extensive experience in the management of complex projects, contracts or grants, including reporting, budgeting, trend forecasting trends and long-range strategic planning. Experience and success in leading and delegating to a diverse group of colleagues working in a collaborative, team-based environment.
In executing the center’s strategic plan, and while directing the center’s business and operations team, provides empathetic leadership and guidance to fellow staff directors to ensure shared vision, effective collaboration and alignment across the center’s other teams: Communications, Development, Strategic Partnerships and Student & Postdoc Programs. Provides strategic direction to and manages long range planning projects with respect to operations, financial resources, personnel, space (including the move into a new building in 2024), and internal policy, processes, and system development. Builds strong relationships; understands and manages the cross-functional impact of program and resource decisions.
Develops, directs, and interprets the center’s program policies and procedures including financial and grant management, human resources and facilities, creating and regularly updating Standard Operating Procedure documents for internal use at Cornell Atkinson. Ensures consistency and compliance with Cornell University policies and guidelines. Partners with colleagues to ensure effective administrative and research leadership. Plays a leadership role in development of new programs, implementation of innovative and effective interdisciplinary program management, and facilitation of changes in university systems, policies, and procedures in support of cross college interdisciplinary programs.
Provides leadership for organizational development and staff development, working with the relevant offices of the Research Division and Cornell HR for regular 360 reviews, DiSC (or other performance and communication enhancing) surveys, and other opportunities for professional development training.
Oversees the preparation of the center’s annual budget. Provides financial reports and analysis, including long range forecast and trend reports; proactively manage budgets. Compiles comprehensive program and project reports in collaboration with fellow directors for a range of audiences including external sponsors, donors, the Cornell Atkinson advisory council, and the administrative leadership at Cornell.
Effectively communicates and collaborates with colleagues in the research division, office of legal counsel, deans’ offices, departmental offices, and other university offices to proactively support the center in furthering its mission. Creates and maintains a professional and productive working environment that is supportive and inclusive for a diverse workforce. Directly supervises and mentors the center’s operations team which is responsible for the center’s research programs, grant management, financial transactions, budgeting, data analysis and reporting.

The Director of Strategic Business Operations of the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability serves as a strategic, practical, and results-driven leader in partnership with the director. Serves as the director of operations and the strategic finance director of the center, and also serves as head of staff development as the center’s liaison with Research Division Human Resources. Oversees all aspects of the center’s day-to-day operations, including research grants and other programs, finance, budget, information systems, human resources, and facilities, maintaining a high functioning organization and a culture of continuous improvement. Advises and partners with the Director to implement the center’s strategic plan.
The successful candidate will have strong people leadership skills, with an approachable style, excellent intuition and judgment, supervisory, managerial, organizational, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills. The ability to attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance; widely viewed as a strong developer of others.
Extensive experience in the management of complex projects, contracts or grants, including reporting, budgeting, trend forecasting trends and long-range strategic planning. Experience and success in leading and delegating to a diverse group of colleagues working in a collaborative, team-based environment.
In executing the center’s strategic plan, and while directing the center’s business and operations team, provides empathetic leadership and guidance to fellow staff directors to ensure shared vision, effective collaboration and alignment across the center’s other teams: Communications, Development, Strategic Partnerships and Student & Postdoc Programs. Provides strategic direction to and manages long range planning projects with respect to operations, financial resources, personnel, space (including the move into a new building in 2024), and internal policy, processes, and system development. Builds strong relationships; understands and manages the cross-functional impact of program and resource decisions.
Develops, directs, and interprets the center’s program policies and procedures including financial and grant management, human resources and facilities, creating and regularly updating Standard Operating Procedure documents for internal use at Cornell Atkinson. Ensures consistency and compliance with Cornell University policies and guidelines. Partners with colleagues to ensure effective administrative and research leadership. Plays a leadership role in development of new programs, implementation of innovative and effective interdisciplinary program management, and facilitation of changes in university systems, policies, and procedures in support of cross college interdisciplinary programs.
Provides leadership for organizational development and staff development, working with the relevant offices of the Research Division and Cornell HR for regular 360 reviews, DiSC (or other performance and communication enhancing) surveys, and other opportunities for professional development training.
Oversees the preparation of the center’s annual budget. Provides financial reports and analysis, including long range forecast and trend reports; proactively manage budgets. Compiles comprehensive program and project reports in collaboration with fellow directors for a range of audiences including external sponsors, donors, the Cornell Atkinson advisory council, and the administrative leadership at Cornell.
Effectively communicates and collaborates with colleagues in the research division, office of legal counsel, deans’ offices, departmental offices, and other university offices to proactively support the center in furthering its mission. Creates and maintains a professional and productive working environment that is supportive and inclusive for a diverse workforce. Directly supervises and mentors the center’s operations team which is responsible for the center’s research programs, grant management, financial transactions, budgeting, data analysis and reporting.

The Opportunity

The Program Coordinator for Campus Activities primarily serves as the primary contact and resource for 1200 student organizations, oversees the registration process for all the student organizations, and provides planning and implementation support for Campus Activities events and programmatic efforts. The Program Coordinator implements improvements and manages logistics related to mid-to large-scale events and programs for Campus Activities, including creating, planning, and executing events, supervising student staff, and providing advice and guidance to student leaders in their event-planning efforts. The Program Coordinator will advise student university organizations associated with and connected to Campus Activities. This position creates and manages the student organization registration process for returning and new organizations, which includes updating procedures, reviewing necessary paperwork related to agreements, accounts, and general attestations, and working with campus partners on compliance needs. Additionally, this role supports and leads integrations of the CampusGroups system to improve utilization and efficiency for student organizations, serving as a liaison with CampusGroups for the university.
Success Factors
• A deep understanding of the importance and value of a co-curricular student experience and provide students with leadership development opportunties.
• Ability to multi-task and function exceptionally well in a fast-paced and collaborative office.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing events and programs.
• Strong experience in using online software/systems.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree, with at least two years of experience advising and developing students; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Successful experience in managing and balancing multiple complex projects.
• The ability to work independently is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
• At least five years of experience advising and developing students.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Conference and Event Service Manager to join our Statler Hotel Sales/Catering Department. • Provide overall forecast on a rotation with input from the Director of Sales/Marketing

Required Qualifications
• For full consideration, applicants must include both a resume and cover letter.
• Associate’s degree in hospitality, marketing, or related field and 4+ years of experience in event planning or hotel sales and catering, or a combined equivalency of education and experience
• Highly motivated, dynamic individual with a professional demeanor, communication skills, and superior customer service, indicative of a AAA-rated Four-Diamond hotel
• Must be familiar with all aspects of hotel operations and knowledgeable about catering/conference planning and execution
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and experience with CRM/database systems within the context of the hotel and catering industry
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality or business
• 3-5 years of hospitality experience
• Prior catering sales or conference planning management
• Delphi experience

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in hospitality, marketing, or related field and 4+ years of experience in event planning or hotel sales and catering, or a combined equivalency of education and experience

Located in the beautiful Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is dedicated to advancing the understanding and protection of the natural world and joins with people from all walks of life to make new scientific discoveries, share insights, and galvanize conservation action. The Lab is a vibrant unit within Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where several full-time faculty teach undergraduate courses, advise graduate students, and manage world-class, mission-driven programs. Our management and staff are committed to the highest standards of ethics and excellence in all areas of our work.
We are seeking a Temporary Grounds Worker to assist in maintaining the 590+ acres in Tompkins County and Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary. This includes around 5 miles of walking trails, ponds, wetlands, and specialized bird feeding gardens. This unique natural environment is utilized by over 60,000 visitors annually and requires specialized and detailed care.
Work Responsibilities Includes
• Lawn mowing, trail trimming, spreading wood chips, removing beaver dams, and assisting other team members when necessary.
• Performs manual labor and independently operates light equipment for general landscape maintenance and/or landscape construction tasks, including trail maintenance, plant maintenance, litter control, beaver dam removal, and other duties.
• Promptly reports unsafe conditions or damage to campus landscape, equipment, or facilities.
• Safely operates hand and self-propelled equipment and tools including string trimmers, walk behind mowers, pole saws, blowers, hedge trimmers, rakes, shovels, and tractors/utility vehicles to achieve required landscape standards.
This position is subject to shift changes which may include early mornings and weekends to meet seasonal work demand. May encounter animals. May be exposed to bees/stings, other environmental allergens and seasonal weather conditions.
This is a part-time, 32 hours per week, 7-month benefits eligible position. Position may require an adjusted schedule (weather dependent) to meet business needs.
Requirements
• High School education or 2 years related experience or equivalent combination. Landscape maintenance or related field experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Considerable knowledge of and ability to use numerous tools and equipment for building/grounds maintenance. At least 1 year of proven experience working with tractors, chainsaws, mowers, weed eaters, ATV’s, rakes, shovels.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license and able to drive standard vehicles. May be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to and from job sites.
• Ability to work comfortably and safely on 10’-12’ stepladders, and 24’ extension ladders.
• Knowledgeable of job-related safety procedures.
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team while meeting tight deadlines.
• Must be comfortable working in an environment where change in process is the norm and be a creative problem solver. Must be flexible, open, and receptive to new ideas and approaches and have the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Must be able to work well and communicate respectfully with people from very diverse backgrounds.

Temporary Grounds Worker – Lab of Ornithology (Part-time...
Location: Sapsucker Woods, Ithaca, NY
Employment Dates: 7 months; approximately April 2023 – November 2023
Part-time position (32 hours/week)
Located in the beautiful Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is dedicated to advancing the understanding and protection of the natural world and joins with people from all walks of life to make new scientific discoveries, share insights, and galvanize conservation action. The Lab is a vibrant unit within Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where several full-time faculty teach undergraduate courses, advise graduate students, and manage world-class, mission-driven programs. Our management and staff are committed to the highest standards of ethics and excellence in all areas of our work.
We are seeking a Temporary Grounds Worker to assist in maintaining the 590+ acres in Tompkins County and Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary. This includes around 5 miles of walking trails, ponds, wetlands, and specialized bird feeding gardens. This unique natural environment is utilized by over 60,000 visitors annually and requires specialized and detailed care.
Work Responsibilities Includes
• Lawn mowing, trail trimming, spreading wood chips, removing beaver dams, and assisting other team members when necessary.
• Performs manual labor and independently operates light equipment for general landscape maintenance and/or landscape construction tasks, including trail maintenance, plant maintenance, litter control, beaver dam removal, and other duties.
• Promptly reports unsafe conditions or damage to campus landscape, equipment, or facilities.
• Safely operates hand and self-propelled equipment and tools including string trimmers, walk behind mowers, pole saws, blowers, hedge trimmers, rakes, shovels, and tractors/utility vehicles to achieve required landscape standards.
This position is subject to shift changes which may include early mornings and weekends to meet seasonal work demand. May encounter animals. May be exposed to bees/stings, other environmental allergens and seasonal weather conditions.
This is a part-time, 32 hours per week, 7-month benefits eligible position. Position may require an adjusted schedule (weather dependent) to meet business needs.
Requirements
• High School education or 2 years related experience or equivalent combination. Landscape maintenance or related field experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Considerable knowledge of and ability to use numerous tools and equipment for building/grounds maintenance. At least 1 year of proven experience working with tractors, chainsaws, mowers, weed eaters, ATV’s, rakes, shovels.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license and able to drive standard vehicles. May be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to and from job sites.
• Ability to work comfortably and safely on 10’-12’ stepladders, and 24’ extension ladders.
• Knowledgeable of job-related safety procedures.
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team while meeting tight deadlines.
• Must be comfortable working in an environment where change in process is the norm and be a creative problem solver. Must be flexible, open, and receptive to new ideas and approaches and have the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Must be able to work well and communicate respectfully with people from very diverse backgrounds.
• Must be able to foster and maintain excellent working relationships with the Lab and Cornell communities which includes coworkers, collaborators, students, visitors, and customers from very diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. This requires approaching all matters with an open mind, sense of curiosity, service-minded attitude, tact, and diplomacy.
• Motivated and takes initiative to be proactive.
• Experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, time management, and problem-solving skills to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Must have the ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to work early shifts and weekends as needed.
• Gloves, safety glasses and face guards are provided as needed. Safety shoes are required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Formal training in equipment operation or ornamental horticulture helpful.
• Previous safety training or ability to complete within 1 month of hire.
