The Director provides leadership, expertise and guidance to departments on all recruiting, HR operations (including the HRIS system), payroll, benefits, training... and development, employee relations and compensation matters, and related department needs. The successful candidate will build relationships across all levels, and clearly communicate and interpret HR policies while maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive situations with solid judgment and discretion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead, manage, and hold accountable Human Resources department staff.
• Practice leadership and management principles including setting and managing the department vision, goals, and objectives, while ensuring they capitalize on best practices and support the University mission, vision, and goals; giving clear direction; providing necessary tools and support; delegating effectively; communicating clearly; providing feedback and rewarding and recognizing department staff.
• Manage the department budget to ensure it aligns with the department and University goals and ensure expenses align with budget.
• Maintain department policies and procedures and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Interpret, review, and update at least annually, all HR policies, including the employee handbook.
• Streamline, document, maintain, store, and ensure compliance with all HR processes and procedures.
• Monitor and ensure University compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and update policies and procedures, as necessary.
• Direct the recruiting function which includes full cycle recruitment for all full time and part time staff, new hire orientation, job description maintenance, and associated systems administration (Vidcruiter, iCIMS, email/JIRA ticketing.)
• Direct the HR operations function which includes use of the HRIS system for employee onboarding, transfer, and offboarding processes, administration of leave, tuition, wellness, and mobile device benefits, and associated systems administration (e.g., UKG, email/JIRA ticketing.)
• Direct the payroll function which includes monthly salary and hourly payroll administration, benefit contribution and reporting, payroll tax administration, W2 reporting, wage garnishments, and associated systems administration (e.g., UKG, and email/JIRA ticketing.)
• Direct the benefits administration function which includes medical benefit and retirement plan administration, insurance program administration, medical leave administration, unemployment and COBRA administration, workers’ compensation administration, accommodation/ADA case administration, and benefits orientation.
• Direct the training and development and performance management functions which include the identification, development and administration of key University-wide professional development programs, development and administration of the annual performance management program, and associated systems (e.g., 15Five, KnowBe4, Talent LMS email/JIRA ticketing.)
• Direct the employee relations function including supporting management in employee coaching, progressive discipline, investigations, and termination processes.
• Ensure employee assessments (e.g., campus climate) and associated reporting are completed annually at minimum and that results shared with the leadership team with recommendations.
• Direct the University’s compensation management program including the establishment and maintenance of a compensation philosophy, establishment of salary and wage ranges, and issuing temporary work assignment offers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Supervise the HR Generalist, Recruiting; HR Generalist, Operations, HRIS, Payroll; HR Generalist, Benefits, Senior HR Generalist, Employee Relations

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
• At least seven years of Human Resource management experience
• In depth knowledge of federal and state employment and benefits laws including FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, Defined Contribution Plans and Tax Deferred Annuity Plan
• Extensive knowledge of Colorado human resource laws
Preferred
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
• HR-related certification (PHR or SHRM-CP Certification)
• Human resource management experience in higher education
• Familiarity with the Colorado legislative process and resulting impacts on institutions of higher education
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
● Less than 10%.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and talk or hear.
● The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms.
● Ability to spend long durations of the workday in front of a computer monitor.
● Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
● The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
TOTAL COMPENSATION
CSU Global offers employer contributions to medical, dental, group life, AD&D coverage, Wellness benefit and training & development opportunities.
