We are as finicky as our customers!

Skills Required:

Knowledge of the printing process, both technically and mechanically.

Management experience – our team is diverse with different skill levels.

Training, for you and your team – it’s ongoing as developments in the printing arena are updated.

Time Management – The deadlines are real, so you’ll be the one expediting the workflow.

Multi-tasking – Eyes on everywhere and stepping in and up when needed.

Qualifications:

Prior experience in the printing/production field with coldset web experience preferably in tower configurations+. This is not your neighborhood printing office. The equipment is large and complex, and our customers have an expectation of high quality that we have successfully maintained.

Digital Content Producer

The independently owned Albuquerque Journal is seeking a digital content producer to play a pivotal role in helping the Journal develop new digital products and storytelling that will engage and grow our audience.

This position is part of a new growing digital team at the Journal that is charged with integrating digital media across the newsroom through content, products and technology. The Journal is making a significant investment in digital staff and tools as we transition our newsroom and newspaper to a more digital-focused operation.

The Digital Content Producer is a new position that will work with our Digital Morning Manager and will create everything from breaking news to listicles to live events.

The Digital Content Producer will help the Journal be great across many platforms including apps, social media, newsletters and video. We re looking for someone who has both digital and journalism skills.

Here are some specific things you would do:
• Write, edit and publish daily content across a variety of topics that are relevant to Albuquerque and New Mexico readers.
• Optimize each story for search using SEO best practices.
• Actively engage our audience across social media channels with strategies that build traffic but also that encourage participation.
• Find important and useful stories for our audience and be able to aggregate them into content our audience wants.
• Use systems like Google Analytics and Metrics for News to learn what our audience wants more of and help staff reporters build on that.
• Coordinate with reporters and editors across the newsroom, helping build out their stories for digital, working with them on story formats, interactives and more.

Requirements & Skills
• Degree in journalism, communications, social media; preferred experience at a newspaper, digital-only news site or TV station
• Knowledgeable in web management, social media tools, HTML, Flash, and Photoshop
• Proficiency in Associated Press style
• Understanding of SEO and social media channels
• Strong journalistic judgment and skills including the ability to write news copy
• Deadline driven
• Great communicator
