Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties:
• Plan and execute developmentally appropriate lessons in the assigned content area(s); differentiate instruction for all students; implement IEP accommodations and modifications.

• Gather resources that assist in addressing/incorporating state standards into lessons, instructional materials, and assessments.
• Regularly monitor and maintain student attendance expectatins.
• Monitor and analyze assessment data to support informed instructional decision-making (including but not limited to PVAAS, Keystone, PSSA , etc.)
• Provide timely feedback to students in order to support students to reach content mastery goals/targets.
• Participate in proctoring state-mandated testing, school field trips, community outreach, and marketing events.
• Collaborate effectively with department and cohort peers to ensure academic goals are appropriate and instructional strategies are effective to reach identified student outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and information in student information systems, following established procedures.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university
• Valid Pennsylvaia Certification: Grades PrK - 4, Grades K-6, or a confirmed pathway to certification

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Education or a related field of study
• 2+ years of experience teaching in education environment

Position Summary:

Instructional Specialists will be assigned to a particular school and work collaboratively with teachers by modeling instruction, providing guidance on key content and instructional strategies, facilitate collaborative planning, and assist teachers in developing in-time responsive interventions to address student needs.

Responsibilities:
• Special Education Instructional Practice Support: Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator with the implementation of the Special Education best practices.
• Data Analysis: Review various data sources and matrices with a critical lens, focusing on improving instruction and identifying data trends within the individual classroom, up to the whole-school level.
• School Improvement Plan Construction: Coordinate and prepare state and district-mandated instructional reports, including the SIP. Ensure all needed data has been collected and included within said reports as required.
• Professional Development: Coordinate and lead instructionally-based professional development opportunities for staff. SBIS will host after-school opportunities for staff as needed and approved by the principal.
• Teacher Support: SBIS will model lessons and provide in-class instructional assistance as needed and directed by the principal. SBIS will assist the principal in identifying instructional strengths and areas of improvement and facilitate strategies to rectify instructional weaknesses.
• Common core implementation facilitator: The SBIS will work with building administration and staff to facilitate and direct implementation of Common Core State Standards. The SBIS will review district planning and pacing schedules and facilitate grade level content specific implementation schedules at the individual school level.
• Leadership Team Member: The SBIS will participate in leadership team meetings involving building instructional trends, school instructional needs, facilitation of professional development, scheduling, and other topics as directed by the principal and central office.
• Testing coordinator: The SBIS will facilitate and coordinate administration of state and district mandated assessments, including but not limited to PSSA, Benchmark, Keystone, ACCESS, etc. The SBIS will be responsible for the organization, distribution, collection, and securing of testing materials, development of assessment schedules, coordinating and conducting make-up assessments, and packaging and shipping of assessments. SBIS will offer professional development to staff related to proper assessment administration.
• Materials management and distribution: SBIS will monitor the use and flow of instructional materials and will allocate materials as needed under the direction of the principal. SBIS will maintain stock and inventory of instructional materials and aids and monitor inventory and allocation logs based upon where materials were allocated.
• Intervention Monitor: SBIS will monitor and support specific intervention practices, including identifying available intervention programs, assisting teachers in identifying eligible students and providing professional development, modeling, coaching, or assistance with intervention implementation.
• MTSS Team Member: When needed, assist MTSS teams in identifying specific interventions and support for students in need of intensive strategies.
• Informational Coordinator: The SBIS will attend development sessions as directed by the school district and principal. The SBIS may be asked to provide turn-around training to staff before or after school.

Required Qualifications:
• Possess excellent organizational skills
• Possess excellent writing skills
• Have a satisfactory performance review rating
• Demonstrate competence with computer based organizational systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Applications, SMART applications, Lumio, and publisher-specific online portals for curricular resources.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage and utilize web-based curricular management systems.
• Demonstrate educational technology competence and the ability to utilize technological tools to improve instruction.
• Provide evidence of exemplary teaching performance, including model lesson planning.
• Preferred but not required: experience as a teacher coach, interventionist, data specialist, or other relevant teacher leadership experience.
• Demonstrate knowledge of modern curricular methodology, including Project-Based Learning, Inquiry-Based Learning, Blended Learning, Gradual Release of Responsibility, cross-competency learning, etc.
• Demonstrate the ability to confidently present critical information to colleagues, school leaders, and the Southeast Delco School District community.
• Willingness to support, coach, mentor, and engage with staff to develop instructional best practices, improve instruction, and analyze data.

The SBIS will serve as a liaison between the district, school, and professional staff, in terms of information and instructional support. The SBIS is expected to become fluent with school-level data, trends, individual classroom level data, and instructional best practices.

The SBIS will be released from teaching responsibility for the entire instructional day to complete the responsibilities of the SBIS. SBIS may be required to offer teacher coverage if determined by administration.

The successful candidate will hold this position for the 2023-2024 school year. Administration reserves the right to return the employee to teaching obligations based upon instructional need within the building. This includes, but is not limited to, teacher vacancy, emergency coverage, or other instructional need within the school at the direction of the building principal.
