Responsibilities:

The University Supervisor is a liaison between the student teaching placement school and the university. The University Supervisor works closely with the cooperating teacher and the principal to ensure a positive student teaching experience for our student teachers.

To ensure the highest quality experience, in addition to holding a current Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License and endorsements in the program area in which they are providing supervision, the University Supervisor must:
• Mentor, support and supervise student teacher(s) throughout the experience
• Support and counsel the cooperating teacher(s)
• Facilitate on-site concerns/issues throughout the experience
• Introduce himself/herself to the principal on the first visit to the school
• Communicate with the cooperating teacher during each visit
• Attend the Student Teaching Orientation at the beginning of the Student Teaching Quarter
• Perform as facilitator for the student teacher, be available throughout the quarter for consult
• Maintain a working e-mail address in order to communicate with the Office of Field Experiences & Student Teaching
• Spend at least one hour observing the student teacher during each visit
• Complete and e-mail all required material and documentation to kliston@depaul.edu at the end of the Student Teaching Quarter.

Number of visits and observation feedback

The University Supervisor will observe the student teacher teach a minimum of four times during the Student Teaching Quarter. The University Supervisor should conduct a telephone or on-site conference with the student teacher and cooperating teacher after each visit. A written report of the observations is also required after each observation. A copy of observation feedback should be e-mailed to the student teacher, the cooperating teacher, and kliston@depaul.edu . Written comments on the observation/visitation form should include positive commentary as well as suggestions for improvement.

Documentation

The University Supervisor must keep detailed documentation of the happenings in the classroom. This is critical if at any point the University Supervisor believes a student teacher is experiencing difficulty. Thorough documentation and complete records will help in making a decision regarding the student teacher and the placement.

Documentation is extremely important. Documentation should include a comprehensive report that indicates when and how the student teacher was notified of the concern and given an opportunity to improve.

Required Qualifications:

University Supervisors must have:
• Master's Degree in Education
• Current Illinois Professional Educator License
• Taught full-time in his/her own classroom for at least 10 years

The Institute for Professional Development is a unit of the College of Computing and Digital Media that offers certificate programs geared towards professionals in the IT field who wish to update their skills. Who We Are

Located in the heart of Chicago, the School of Design prides itself on nurturing a diverse body of students to become visionary designers who will become leaders in their fields. The School of Design uniquely comprises a range of design disciplines (industrial, graphic, UX, game) working closely alongside one another. We are interested in applicants with a focus in industrial design who can foster collaborations with students and colleagues across the school. Our faculty builds bridges within and outside DePaul and engages in community outreach that reflects DePaul's Vincentian Mission. DePaul is on the quarter system, and the teaching load is two courses per quarter. Faculty in the School of Design are given many forms of support to develop their careers. Faculty have access to cutting-edge equipment and lab spaces, including two well-equipped makerspaces with facilities for fabricating wood, metal, plastics, soft goods, and electronics; recording, film, stop-motion animation, and motion-capture studios; and several VR and AR production spaces. The position features well-paid compensation and support for exhibiting and presenting work at festivals, galleries, museums, and conferences. Colleagues in the School of Design program are dedicated to mutual success and growth, and we are interested in someone who will add new dimensions to our programs.

Required Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with experience bringing products to market, and expertise in any other areas related to industrial design. Qualified candidates should have a terminal degree (MFA, MDes, or equivalent) in industrial design or a related field. A proven commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate level, an active record of professional creative practice, and evidence of working collaboratively are required. Preferred candidates will have at least two years of teaching experience at the college level; be able to contribute their expertise to shaping DePaul's industrial design curriculum; be able to teach both theoretical and practical hands-on courses; have experience in design research; and be motivated to work with faculty and students on building curriculum and leading school-wide initiatives.

We are especially interested in candidates whose work and interests align with DePaul's Vincentian mission which calls on the university to address the great questions of our day, promoting peaceful, just, and equitable solutions to social and environmental challenges. Specifically, the School of Design is working to develop curricula that address diversity and anti-racism and respond to contemporary industry trends, societal issues, and dynamic, intersecting design disciplines. Responsibilities:

The Department of Health Sciences (HLTH) in the College of Science and Health (CSH) at DePaul University in Chicago invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track position at the Instructor or Professional Lecturer rank to teach courses beginning in 2023, start date negotiable. HLTH currently serves nearly 700 undergraduate students pursuing a B.S. degree in one of two concentrations: Bioscience and Public Health Sciences. Our faculty train students to work collaboratively to address human health from both natural and social scientific perspectives to improve the lives of individuals and communities.

Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education with a diverse student body and an interest in contributing to a growing interdisciplinary major, minors, and department.
