The Mechanical Analysis and Test Department is responsible for ensuring the capability and positive thermal margin of all RMD Products. A thermal analyst in the MA&T Department has a vast set of responsibilities related to heat transfer and aerodynamic heating of attachment variety of different types of hardware on all the RMD projects and are responsible for detailed Thermal analysis to support all phases of programs including development and production. The analysis tasks will span the spectrum from classical hand analyses to detailed analyses requiring the use of finite element analysis software. The selected candidate will work under only very general direction and will be expected to define the scope and level of analysis required to meet required objectives and assist in program planning. The selected candidate will be expected to present their work for peer reviews and to be a peer reviewer for other engineers' work. The selected candidate will work with the customer and engineering leadership to define testing required to validate Thermal analyses and to verify that hardware is compliant with requirements. The analyst is expected to plan and support tests, perform data reduction, and engage in thermal model correlation. They will also be expected to assist with proposal preparation including estimating the scope of new engineering projects.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
• Perform Hand Calculations to determine scope of higher detail analysis models
• Perform detailed analysis to solve diverse program thermal challenges
• Perform peer reviews of all analysis to validate process and results
• Document results according to RMD standards
• Deliver results to customers
• Act as a technical leader and/or lead analysis/test teams
• Work onsite including the ability to attend in-person meetings and visit laboratories
Qualifications You Must Have:
• Bachelor's in in General Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field from an accredited university. ABET is the preferred accreditation standard. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional 3 years of experience.
• 8 years of thermal analysis experience
• Thermal Analysis Experience using PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA or ANSYS, or equivalent
• Understanding of thermodynamic principles to solve classical thermal analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date
Qualifications We Value:

• Evaluates all mechanical aspects to ensure the product designed and developed will meet life cycle requirements. This will include detail stress, vibration, modal, fatigue analysis of all designed components.
• Detailed involvement in all steps in the product development process/life cycle, from customer requirement, to design, to prototype manufacturing, to product qualification, to final product implementation and product launch.
• Derive component level requirements from assembly requirements to create part specifications and drawings: Communication with all suppliers and vendors to determine manufacturability.

Rotoflow , an Air Products Business, is a full-service turbomachinery OEM - providing a wide range of new equipment solutions and aftermarket services to our customers globally in market segments such as industrial gases, petrochemicals, and hydrocarbons. Aftermarket services such as spare parts, repairs, upgrades, field services, engineering evaluations, reliability and performance assessments, troubleshooting, training, remote diagnostics/data monitoring, and shop services are some of the many offerings provided from regional service centers for both Air Products and non-Air Products equipment.
We are seeking an Aftermarket Machinery Engineer at our turbomachinery service center in Houston, Texas, responsible for providing engineering support for spares, repairs, upgrades, reverse engineering, and field service of all types of turbomachinery. You will enjoy:

Ability to influence existing product designs and new design standard methodologies by providing valuable aftermarket feedback to the new product group,
Being part of an engineering and service organization; giving the candidate the ability to apply and learn about theoretical machinery design and its practical, hands-on applications,
Collaborating with regional support facilities and Air Products staff located in Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Detailed responsibilities
Develop, update, and/or implement procedures and processes for servicing a variety of turbomachinery products including other OEM equipment,
Reverse engineer turbomachinery components to quickly create replacement part detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings from scanned data cloud,
Support machinery refurbishment, upgrade, and rerate activity by developing technical scope for service activity in both the field and the company's service centers and then working with the service team to execute said scope, including performing detailed design engineering of mechanical and aerodynamic systems,
Participate in Root Cause Analyses and developing technical reports and summaries for customers,
Act as a primary technical point of contact to internal and external customers, including troubleshooting and redirecting requests promptly when appropriate,
Provide on-site support when necessary; the general expectation for travel is around 25%, however, this can vary and will involve both planned and unplanned activities,
Support the proposal team in developing and reviewing technical scope and cost for repairs and field services
Work closely with senior product engineers to allow for effective and efficient transfer of product and technical knowledge,
Provide input on staffing and resourcing to ensure customers are properly supported,
Ensure individuals supporting field activities are qualified, providing training, and helping create training programs as necessary,
Support continuous improvement efforts focused on improving reliability and customer value,
Demonstrate exceptional responsiveness and work ethic in supporting customers to meet deadlines and expectations,
Develop the engineering capability of the aftermarket service business, including RCA, FEA, CFD, rotordynamics, redesigns, upgrades, etc.
Minimum qualifications
Education should include a BSME, MSME, related technical degree,
5+ yrs experience with reverse engineering of turbomachinery components or related technologies,
Experience with 3D laser scanning and CMM inspection methods,
Detailed, hands-on knowledge of turbomachinery, accessory systems, and related technologies,
Thorough understanding of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs),
Thorough understanding of how equipment is assembled, operated, and maintained,
Understanding of general machinery commissioning, troubleshooting and servicing best practices,
Understanding of control systems and instrumentation for the successful commissioning and troubleshooting turbomachinery,
Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, API, and other codes.
Experience with SAP ERP system,
Hands-on experience with turbomachinery maintenance,
Familiarity with drafting and modeling applications such as Solidworks or AutoCAD.
Excellent communication, documentation, and technical writing skills,
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills; including an understanding of when to escalate both technical and administrative decisions,
Differentiated Qualifications
Five or more years of experience with turbomachinery or related technologies,
Detailed engineering experience with Rotoflow or similar OEM equipment,
Knowledge of how to design for manufacturability and GD&T,
Capabilities associated with the aerodynamic design of components, gas dynamics, CFD, FEA of centrifugal impellers,
Experience with Dry Gas Seals
