If you're the kind of person who finds themselves spotting typos in the wild, you may be the perfect person for this role. If you're the kind of person who finds themselves spotting typos in the wild, you may be the perfect person for this role. (Bonus points if you've ever taken medical advice from anyone who works at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, if you think "suite" before "football" when you hear the word "fantasy... or if you can name at least one member of the Hype House.)
The role, which is completely remote, will report to our Chief Copy Editor and work with our SEO team and our team of talented writers to assure everything published on the site has clean copy
The hours for the position are 1 p.m
EST to 9 p.m
EST - but we're flexible for the right person.
The ideal candidate:
• Copy edits meticulously and has a keen eye for detail;
• Has a passion for the difference between an em-dash and an en-dash;
• Is familiar with AP style;
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills, and has experience working with writers;
• Is a team player who can work independently;
• Has a working knowledge of SEO and digital publishing;
• Knows their way around a CMS;
• Has excellent time management and is unafraid of working on deadline;
• Enjoys all things entertainment - bonus points if you're a TV fanatic.
Responsibilities include:
• Line editing content - for style, clarity, grammar, and spelling - written by our staff writers and editors;
• Working with our writers to communicate corrections;
• Maintaining, updating, and enforcing a style guide;
• Communicating updates, common errors, and corrections to the editorial team during monthly editorial meetings.
