Docker is a remote first company with employees across Europe and the Americas that simplifies the lives of developers who are making world-changing apps. We raised our Series C funding in March 2022 for $105M at a $2.1B valuation. We continued to see exponential revenue growth last year. Join us for a whale of a ride!
The DevRel team at Docker serves as the bridge between Docker and its... community of 14 million developers. We strive to support and train all developers to use Docker to build incredible applications. We focus on both the current generation of developers and the 15 million developers that will be entering the industry over the next 10 years. The challenge is great, but so are the opportunities!
In this role, your primary focus will be developer obsession. You will help them be successful and more productive by using Docker’s tooling. You might do so by answering questions on social media, writing blog posts, participating in conferences and meetups, producing videos, creating training and workshop materials, and more. As you do so, you will gather feedback and struggles and relay them to the various product teams to help make Docker’s tooling even better! You will also work closely with the Docker Captains to train and solicit feedback on future efforts.
A successful candidate is passionate about lowering the barrier of entry for all developers, regardless of their programming language, tools, or experience level. They will be both a strong communicator and a skilled developer, helping ensure the community can trust the content they produce. They can work with their team and with others across the company to develop training programs for both new and existing products. As they recognize opportunities for new programs and initiatives, they will create and propose plans and help guide the implementation of an accepted plan.
Responsibilities:
• Work with product teams, customer success, sales engineering, and our docs teams to drive the end-to-end strategy and produce training and education materials for both current and future products and features
• Provide technical support and guidance to the developer community through a variety of channels, including enablement materials for our Docker Captains and influencers
• Develop and maintain sample end-to-end applications using current best practices, including development environments using Docker, CI/CD, testing, and deployment to various environments
• Ability to travel occasionally to speak or represent Docker at both large industry-wide conferences and smaller regional/local conferences or meetups
• Collaborate with internal teams to help shape product road map and future initiatives
Qualifications:
• Experience in creating educational programs and materials in a variety of formats like for example webinars
• Significant experience in building and deploying applications using a variety of languages, CI/CD systems, and deployment strategies (cloud, Kubernetes, Swarm, Compose, etc.)
• Experience in creating/presenting at podcasts, speaking at conferences or other public venues
• Top-notch interpersonal skills and the ability to help all developers
What To Expect In The First 30 Days
• Meet the team and others across the company
• Understand and help shape the team mission
• Start building content to help educate the community
• Meet with the Docker Captains
What To Expect In The First 90 Days
• Meet additional partners across the company
• Attend one or more conferences representing Docker
• Get to know several key content creators in the community
• Help shape and create a content pipeline/schedule to help educate developers
What To Expect In The First Year
• Gained full autonomy of your desired content to support the community
• Helped shape the education and outreach efforts of DevRel at Docker
• Partnered with product teams to help their new features be adopted by the Docker community

That's why we recently launched Docker (http://www.docker.com/) & Docker Hub (http://hub.docker.com), an Open Source tool enabling anyone to run those Linux Containers very easily & a community Hub for the community to organize, share and create images publicly as well as privately. Containers boot 1000x faster than virtual machines; their disk and memory footprint are also much lower; and they work on virtually all current platforms (from physical servers to public cloud instances). We think that they are the future of virtualization, and will soon become ubiquitous.
The Front End Team at Docker is looking for Engineers specializing in UX, UI and modern front-end technologies. The position can be either UI/UX-leaning, tech-leaning or a bit of both. Below are descriptions for the two extremes.
Docker has a strong engineering culture and you will be expected to drive your own time allocation and to make decisions on a daily basis. As a Front End Engineer at Docker, responsibilities include owning the UX/UI across a variety of sites (hub.docker.com, www.docker.com, docs.docker.com, etc), building out a component library that works across all of our sites and pushing our technology forward to build out the future Docker Hub.
Convinced Then fork the repo on github (https://github.com/docker/docker) and have a look at the code. Not convinced Then check the website (http://www.docker.com/), which contains more details, demos, and screencasts. Excited about this Then join our engineering team!
Skills and Requirements
This position focuses on the core JavaScript that runs the Docker Hub and other sites. If building out Isomorphic JavaScript Applications, reusable component libraries (using React) and public SDKs sounds like fun to you, this may be your position.
• Knows JavaScript's type system well and has experience with more sophisticated type systems.
• Has Functional Programming experience (Experience with Lazy Evaluation a plus)
• Is capable of pushing their own limits as well as the limits of those around them to create solutions to problems they haven't encountered yet and may not be googleable.
Preferred Skills
• React, Flux, Backbone
• Isomorphic JavaScript Applications
• Immutable Datastructures and Cursors/Lenses
• Experience with *check testing (Quickcheck, Smallcheck, etc)
• Building SDKs and Component Libraries
• AltJS Languages (ClojureScript, PureScript, TypeScript)
• Open Source Contributions
