Who You Are

A Biologist with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience supporting environmental planning, review, and field studies within Southern California. You have served as an author on a variety of environmental documents such as biological resources assessments and evaluations, technical reports, permit applications, and NEPA and CEQA analyses utilizing your excellent writing and communication skills.

You are known for preparing documents that are clear, concise, well-written and supported and for your ability to present information understandably and speak persuasively about complex topics to clients, regulatory agency staff, teaming partners, other project stakeholders and the general public.

What You Will Do for ESA

Perform and occasionally lead biological field studies such as native flora and fauna surveys including rare plant surveys, vegetation classification and habitat mapping, nesting bird surveys, wetland delineations, endangered species occurrence documentation, and compliance monitoring.

Author environmental documents including daily field logs, technical memoranda, biological assessments/habitat evaluations, impact evaluations to support NEPA and CEQA documents, and resource-related permit applications.

Effectively communicate and collaborate with staff, clients, and teaming partners. You will act as deputy project manager (DPM) and will be responsible for coordinating the task schedule, logistics, disseminating and maintaining related information and resources, assisting with budget tracking and invoicing, meeting with team members to gauge progress toward task completion, and responding to team member or client questions.

Participate in compliance monitoring and reporting activities for on-going construction projects; you will work near heavy equipment. You will prepare and submit daily monitoring reports and observe work activities to see that activities comply with applicable mitigation measures and permit conditions. You will navigate through rough terrain in company-provided 4WD vehicles.

Thrive in a fast-paced, exciting, and challenging environment and be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines, while working on a team or independently. ESA has established multiple pay ranges tailored to the economic factors in the geographies in which ESA staff reside.
